Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and direct commitment to safety and integrity
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team in process, reporting, compliance, analytics, and coordination
  • Own and evolve end-to-end portfolio development, management, and forecasting process framework
  • Align portfolio and utility coordination processes across multiple states and functions
  • Establish governance standards, weiging thresholds, forums, and escalation
  • Advise leadership on process design and maturity
  • Lead design and maintenance of preventive/detective/deterrent controls
  • Support audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and defensible decision documentation
  • Oversee a controls register, testing cadence, and remediation tracking
  • Collaborate with Finance, Regulatory, and Internal Audit to manage risk
  • Oversee development of enterprise-grade reporting, dashboards, and analytics
  • Ensure forecasting methodologies and data models support insight
  • Promote data governance and single source of truth
  • Support capital planning decisions grounded in engineering needs
  • Coordinate across Distribution Portfolio, IT, Facilities, Finance, Regulatory, Supply Chain
  • Resolve cross-functional dependencies via governance and escalation
  • Support storm processes through assigned duties

About The Opportunity

This is an open position with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

This position can be situated at any service center within the FirstEnergy service territory, though a reporting location of the FirstEnergy Headquarters in Akron, Ohio is preferred.

Responsibilities Include
  • Demonstrating and directing a prominent commitment to all aspects of safety and integrity.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing team specializing in process, reporting, compliance, analytics, and coordination.
  • Owning and evolving end-to-end portfolio development, management, and forecasting process framework.
  • Ensuring alignment of portfolio and utility coordination processes across multiple states and corporate functions.
  • Establishing and maintaining governance standards, including approval thresholds, decision forums, and escalation pathways.
  • Advising Distribution Portfolio & Utility Coordination leadership on process design and maturity.
  • Leading the design and maintenance of preventive, detective, and deterrent controls.
  • Supporting audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and defensible decision documentation.
  • Overseeing a controls register, testing cadence, and remediation tracking.
  • Supporting organizational partnerships with Finance, Regulatory, and Internal Audit to manage risk exposure.
  • Overseeing the development of enterprise-grade reporting, dashboards, and analytics.
  • Ensuring forecasting methodologies and data models support accurate, timely, and transparent portfolio insights.
  • Promoting “one version of the truth” through strong data governance practices.
  • Ensuring capital planning decisions are grounded in engineering-based need and system performance outcomes.
  • Ensuring effective coordination between Distribution Portfolio & Utility Coordination and enterprise partner groups (e.g., IT, Facilities, Finance, Regulatory, Supply Chain).
  • Resolving cross-functional dependencies and conflicts through governance and escalation.
  • Supporting FirstEnergy storm processes through performance of storm duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Analytics, or related discipline and 7 years of related experience is required. Related work experience includes portfolio management, capital planning, analytics, PMO, or utility operations.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associate degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Analytics, or related discipline and 10+ years of related experience is required.
  • Consideration will be given to non-degreed candidates with over 15 years of related experience.
  • Experience in electric utility distribution, capital portfolio management, or joint use preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Power BI, data analytics tools, and capital request platforms (e.g., OPPM) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Exposure to regulatory filings, audit processes, and control frameworks preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high performers.
  • Strategic, change-oriented thinking with operational discipline.
  • Exceptional relationship management, leadership, teamwork, and managerial skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt style to diverse audiences.
  • Able to balance rigor with pragmatism.
  • Comfort operating across ambiguity and complexity.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the service territory.

FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.

The estimated pay range for this role is $126,500 - $148,500. The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $152,000 - $178,000.
