Job description

Role Purpose

The Manager, Philanthropy Activation supports the prospect development, major gift pipeline management, and data insights work our clients depend on. You will help build and refine the tools and processes behind that work, develop reporting documents and generate cross-client insights. You will partner across our data, technology, and client strategy & service teams alongside the AVP to turn donor and patient data into something gift officers will use to inform prospect strategy and outreach.

This is a foundational hire, which means you will have real input into what we create and the best ways to support our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Data Insights

  • Generate the data insights and reporting our client strategy & service team needs to advise clients and help shape the plan for how each client puts those insights to use.
  • Maintain performance dashboards and review donor qualification efforts for accuracy and practitioner usability before they reach a client.
  • Flag anomalies and trends, and surface where a data output is not translating into gift officer action.
  • Support the development of cross-client benchmarks and data insights to identify trends and inform strategy across client portfolio.

Prospect Development + Pipeline Support

  • Support prospect development and major gift pipeline work across DHS’s philanthropy client portfolio.
  • Help configure and refine the tools that connect grateful patient and donor data to gift officer workflows.
  • Bring a practitioner’s eye to the ongoing development of DHS’s data and technology products.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner across data, technology, deployment, and client strategy & service teams to keep projects moving without needing to elevate for logistics.
Qualifications

Required Experience & Education

  • At least three years of experience in fundraising operations, prospect management, development services, or a closely related function, ideally within healthcare philanthropy or nonprofit fundraising.
  • Experience with fundraising data and reporting tools: a CRM (Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar), a prospect research platform (iWave, DonorSearch, or similar), or campaign reporting infrastructure.
  • A strong ability to manage projects across multiple stakeholders, even when ownership is ambiguous.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Experience, Skills & Certifications

  • Graduate coursework in nonprofit management, health administration, or data analytics.
  • CFRE progress, Apra, AHP, AFP or other engagement with the philanthropy field, specifically in healthcare.
  • Experience in a consulting, professional services, technology, or multi-client services environment.

Professional Attributes

  • Data fluent and proactive. You are adept using tools like Excel, have the ability to interpret and normalize data from varying sources, and are quick to notice and troubleshoot when numbers don’t add up.
  • Able to bridge theory and practice. You have been near enough to gift officer work, prospect management, or development services to understand what fundraisers need from data and how they use it.
  • A builder. You’re motivated by creating systems and processes for a growing function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curious about AI-enabled tools. You have experience using AI tools to support your work and appreciate how they can accelerate this kind of work, and you are quick to pick up new ones.
  • A clear communicator. You are equally at ease in a team meeting, with a client-ready summary, and process documentation.
