Overview

Pay Range: $170,000 - $180,000

SCOPE: Oversees pharmacy operations to ensure pharmacy requirements are met. Oversees department job functions and ensures department operates within budget. Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures. Initiates and follows quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Consults with physicians and other clinicians to provide expertise on all pharmacy related issues. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and

Business Standards.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the recruitment, hiring, and training of pharmacists and technicians for non-retail oncology infusion sites.
  • Coordinates coverage for PTO taken by pharmacists and technicians within assigned geographical areas. Performs evaluations of coverage personnel. Assists in providing pharmacist coverage as needed Oversees pharmacy services in accordance with governmental, legal requirements, and other regulatory standards.
  • Review departmental performance and ensures compliance with accreditation, quality assurance, legal and other regulatory requirements.
  • Process Improvement Program for assigned network. Coordinates Disease Management partnership implementation and follow-up.
  • Develops departmental goals and objectives in consultation with administration. Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and informs staff of new drug regulations.
  • Establishes charging and billing procedures. Assumes responsibility for dispensing all medications. Establishes drug control procedures.
  • Takes corrective action as necessary. Manages the selection and training/orientation of departmental personnel.
  • Initiates and promotes staff development. Assures proper training of all admixture technicians and pharmacists, nurses and other personnel who mix/prepare/handle hazardous drugs (USP 797/800)
  • Evaluates performance and recommends merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Acts as education resource and consults with medical staff. Participates in pharmacy teaching and in-service programs.
  • Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients and medical staff. Performs all functions required of Pharmacist and Technicians as required.
  • Manages the activities of pharmacy staff including Registered Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Designated Person(s)(DP) for USP 797/800 compliance

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree from an accredited school of pharmacy and current state licensure. Minimum five years experience as a registered pharmacist, with at least two years prior supervisory and management experience. Five years experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills. Oncology background with chemotherapy/infusion required. BCOP/BCOP eligible preferred. Prior experience in pharmacy management. Must possess current Pharmacist licensure in state of practice.
