GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job involves developing, planning, implementing, and operating departmental projects and services. The role works closely with the pharmacy director to establish short and long-term goals, manages daily operations, and ensures compliance with systems, regulatory requirements, and performance improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan, organize, implement, and oversee pharmacy activities including preparation, distribution, and data processing. Ensure operational processes meet hospital standards and objectives. Develop and implement plans to streamline operations. (20%)
  2. Develop operational guidelines and facilitate staff education on new products and procedures. (20%)
  3. Supervise pharmacy staff in collaboration with the Pharmacy Practice Supervisor or Pharmacist. Clarify expectations and promote teamwork. (20%)
  4. Perform duties of a Pharmacy Practice Supervisor or Pharmacist as needed. (10%)
  5. Assist in developing, implementing, and administering hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Participate in staffing, interviewing, and performance evaluations. (10%)
  6. Contribute to performance improvement and regulatory compliance efforts, fostering a safety-oriented environment. Support initiatives and oversight of regulatory standards. (10%)
  7. Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, including labor and non-labor costs. Help develop cost-control strategies and oversee billing accuracy. Manage 340B program as applicable. (10%)
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) and at least 5 years of experience as a staff pharmacist.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in PA and/or NY, with licensure obtained within 120 days of hire or upon sitting for boards.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Business, or Healthcare Management.
  • Completion of a pharmacy residency program.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
