Job summary

Red River is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead end-to-end payroll processing for US operations, leveraging ADP Workforce Now, Workday, and soon UKG. You will partner with HR, Accounting, and FP&A to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.

You will mentor and develop a remote or on-site team, implement process improvements, maintain SOPs, and drive governance across payroll cycles while safeguarding confidential information and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in business or accounting.
  • FPC designation.
  • 3–5 years of experience with payroll systems and supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing using payroll systems.
  • Provide leadership development to direct reports.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with HR, Accounting, and FP&A.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory payroll regulations and internal policies.
  • Contribute to process improvements for system implementations/upgrades.
  • Create and maintain SOPs and audits for payroll policies.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly/yearly payroll reports and tax reconciliations.
  • Communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Analyze complex problems and deliver practical solutions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and neutrality in sensitive situations.

Job description

Primary Position Tasks
  • Manage the end-to-end payroll processing utilizing payroll and HR systems (ADP Workforce Now and Workday) and soon to be using UKG
  • Provide leadership development to direct report(s) to optimize operational excellence and create experienced talent
  • Develop and maintain relationships with HR, Accounting, and FP&A teams throughout the payroll cycle
  • Strong knowledge of statutory and payroll tax regulations, working knowledge of payroll best practices and ensure compliance with internal policies
  • Function as a strategic partner and contribute process improvement for system implementations/upgrades
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures and audits to ensure policies and procedures are being adhered to
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare weekly/monthly/yearly reports and compare the tax reports being prepared by the outside provider to the various state returns and make sure they tie out, etc.
  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing with all levels across the organization
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and deliver insightful, practical, and sustainable solutions
  • Maintain an eye for detail; demonstrate accuracy, and exercise confidentiality & neutrality in complex and sensitive situations
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in business/accounting or equivalent
  • FPC designation (Fundamental Payroll Certification)
  • At least 3-5years of experience with payroll systems and proven management/supervisory skills
Preferred Education/Certification/Experience
  • Experience with ADP Workforce NOW and Workday
  • CPP designation
  • Experience with managing a remote team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Possess competency in: payroll processing, employee relations, compliance knowledge, discretion, written and verbal communications, Payroll and Tax technical expertise'
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent MS Office skills, especially Excel and Word
