Responsible for managing the activities and employees of the Outpatient Coding Unit within the Coding and Documentation Improvement Department. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Outpatient Coding, the Manager ensures quality coding from a clinical documentation, productivity, compliance, and accuracy perspective. The role involves creating a support structure within Coding to achieve clinical and operational excellence in OP coding and documentation processes. The Manager should possess strong OP clinical coding expertise, a solid foundation of government coding and billing regulations, and leadership skills to oversee credentialed coders. Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and PCS coding is essential for accurate data capture. Building effective relationships with partner departments, clinical staff, finance, and revenue cycle is key to improving documentation quality, supporting correct coding, performance metrics, and charge capture. The Manager also coordinates coding audits and reviews to ensure accuracy.
