Job summary

Bachem Americas is seeking a Manager of Production to oversee end-to-end peptide manufacturing, ensuring GMP compliance and on-time output in a fast-paced environment. You will lead cross‑functional teams, manage resources, and drive continuous improvement across synthesis, cleavage, purification, reconstitution, and lyophilization.

The role requires a strong background in chemistry or related fields, multiple advanced degrees preferred, and extensive experience in cGMP manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred; PhD preferred.
• 8+ years of experience as a production chemist in a cGMP environment preferred.
• Previous team leadership or project management experience required.
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in cGMP manufacturing, safety regulations and documentation standards preferred.
• Proficient with various in-process analytical methods preferred.
• Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems required.
• Experience in organic chemistry preferred.
• Experience as a peptide production chemist preferred.
• Proficient with all peptide manufacturing stages preferred.
• Experience with manufacturing equipment such as reactors for commercial scale preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment.
• Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues.
• Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment.
• Advanced PC knowledge including planning tools

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop production teams, including recruitment, training, and performance management for peptide (and/or oligo) manufacturing
• Collaborate between Production and other supporting departments such as Supply Chain, Materials Management, QC, and QA to ensure all necessary resources are available and utilized effectively
• Supervise, address and resolve any issues that arise with all peptide manufacturing stages which include synthesis, cleavage, (or) purification, reconstitution and lyophilization
• Supervise in-process analysis in all manufacturing stages (USP or DSP stages)
• Assign tasks for team members and follow up on completion
• Ensure compliance that written procedures (SOP, BPR) and cGMP guidelines are followed to meet quality standards
• Review and complete cGMP documentation
• Adhere to manufacturing schedules and timelines
• Propose technical and chemical improvements of the manufacturing process
• Ensure safe, efficient and conscious use of the instruments, raw materials and other resources
• Enforce health and safety regulations to maintain a safe and secure working environment

The Manager of Production plays a key role in overseeing the end‑to‑end manufacturing process to ensure operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This position supports the Director of Production by strategically allocating resources and optimizing workflows to meet production timelines, quality standards, and output targets. The Production Manager is accountable for all aspects of GMP‑compliant manufacturing, including safety, product quality, regulatory adherence, and overall operational performance. Base Annual Salary Range:

Placement of new hires in this wage range is based on several factors including education, skill sets, experience, and training.
