Job summary

RBC is seeking a Manager to provide strategic leadership for Investment Advisory Operations Account Administration and Billing. You will guide a team through change, manage risk, and ensure regulatory adherence while driving process improvements and operational excellence.

You will hire, develop, and supervise staff, address escalated inquiries, and manage performance metrics, budgets, and audits, all within a collaborative Wealth Management environment in Minneapolis.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree or equivalent with 5+ years securities, banking, technology and/or job-specific industry experience.
  • 3+ years prior securities, banking, technology and/or job-specific related industry experience.
  • Securities license 7 or 99 (or able to obtain license within 120 days).
  • 2+ years demonstrated and sound managerial experience leading and managing a team.
  • Previous billing and/or advisory experience expertise.
  • Strong accountability mindset which takes responsibility for all work activities and personal actions.
  • Ability to recognize employees' successes and development opportunities and coach employees through challenges.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve complex, escalated issues.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop solutions for escalated issues.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, onboard, and train new team members.
  • Supervise and direct time sensitive, complex and/or highly specialized daily workflows to ensure department service levels are met.
  • Provide training, coaching, recognition, and development for the team members, fostering teamwork and planning for succession.
  • Address escalated questions independently; seeking assistance from Senior Manager or other Operations resources as appropriate.
  • Conduct operations process oversight on complex exception-based and/or highly specialized processes to ensure adherence to department procedures, risks are mitigated, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Provide support with department volume metrics, staffing models, financial forecasts, audit requests, and budgets as required.
  • Reduce risk, increase efficiencies, and enrich customer service by suggesting process changes and/or system modifications.
  • Adapt to and support the implementation of process and system changes that impact the team’s daily work.
  • Investigate escalated issues by conducting analysis of complex exception-based processes to identify root causes and implement corrective solutions.
  • Develop and maintain department procedures and Written Supervisory Procedures (WSP's) as well as perform oversight

Job Description
What is the opportunity?

The Manager will provide strategic leadership for the Investment Advisory Operations Account Administration and Billing team, managing complex, exception-based processes as a subject matter expert. Your primary focus will be managing change and risk - while guiding your team through organizational transitions, driving proactive risk identification and mitigation, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and operational standards. You will hire and develop team members, handle escalated issues, oversee process compliance, and work independently to resolve complex customer inquiries. You will drive operational excellence by ensuring accurate account analysis and documentation while maintaining department procedures and supporting process improvements. You must understand regulatory risks, workflow interdependencies, and manage position risks through operational reviews and system checks.

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university or equivalent or High school diploma or equivalent AND 5+ years of securities, banking, technology and/or job specific industry experience

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $70,000 - $130,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
