Job summary

Maersk Performance Team in the United States seeks a Warehouse Supervisor to manage warehouse activities including receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods while ensuring safety and efficiency.

You will lead 30-50 associates, coordinate staffing based on workload, and ensure on-time delivery in line with company policies. Proficiency with MS Excel/Outlook is preferred; Spanish helpful.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate clearly with staff and management.

Position Summary

Manages all warehouse activities. Manages the warehouse ensuring the receipt, co-ordination and safety of goods coming through a warehouse. Also ensures that orders arrive and are dispatched on time to the appropriate destinations and in the expected quantities. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks in all aspects of the warehouse operation. Leads and directs the work of others. Typically reports to a senior manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Able to communicate and work along with all employees.
  • Lead associates with daily tasks and work load priorities.
  • Maintains a high standard for safety, cleanliness and overall work practices.
  • Responsible for completing daily shift paperwork.
  • Determines staffing needs based on work load and schedules staff accordingly.
  • Assigns workers to specific duties based on work load and shipping schedules.
  • Reviews and updates operational procedures as necessary and ensures they are communicated to and understood by the warehouse associates.
  • Tracks productivity and qualify performance by individual, function, and department.
  • Works with Inventory Control to ensure the highest level of inventory accuracy possible.
  • Advises employees on handling of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions to resolve.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Ensuring all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises 30-50 associates.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software and MS Outlook.
Other Skills and Abilities
  • Spanish is helpful, but not necessary.

Pay Range

$80,530 - $84,537
