Job summary

CSS is seeking an experienced Manager – Operations to lead a diverse team in a customer-focused warehouse environment. You will drive on-time fulfillment, oversee shipping/receiving, and manage inventory, capital, and quality systems.

Collaboration with Sales, Project teams, and support functions will be key for delivering effective customer solutions. The role requires 5+ years in operations, team leadership experience in a distribution setting, and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or Equivalent required.
  • 5+ years operations experience in distribution/warehouse preferred.
  • Experience managing a group of individual contributors or indirectly supervising staff.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; proficient with MS Office.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the location, ensuring on-time order fulfillment, shipping, and receiving.
  • Oversee inventory, working capital, and quality management systems.
  • Lead a possibly multi-site operation with related customer value-added services.
  • Coach, hire, train, and performance-manage staff; ensure safety and compliance.
  • Implement LEAN methods to drive operational efficiencies and cost control.
  • Maintain facility readiness and preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Accounts, HR and Finance to align with market strategy.
  • Develop annual budgets for the facility.

Job description

As the Manager – Operations, you will manage multiple priorities in a customer-centered environment. You will lead a diverse group of team members, which can include Operations Associates, Drivers and Administrative Coordinators. You will interact with other internal departments such as Sales in addition to external customer support and interactions. You will provide exceptional customer service through order fulfilment and problem resolution. You will oversee key performance indicators (KPIs) to maintain and improve service quality. You may manage employees in a unionized environment.

Support the Sales organization by partnering with Project Management and Project Implementation teams to deliver successful customer solutions. Experience in Datacenter infrastructure, Security systems, and equipment deployment is highly preferred. Responsibilities include security camera programming, overseeing supply chain build operations, and supervising the assembly of datacom and server cabinets for hyperscale data center environments.

Responsibilities
  • Manages all aspects of the location to include accurate on time order fulfillment and shipping, on time receiving, manage working capital (as it relates to Operations), inventory and quality management systems.
  • Management responsibility of a location that could include multiple warehouse management systems and/or multifaceted customer value added services.
  • Maintains a safe, secure and inclusive workplace.
  • Manages, coaches, mentors, hires and trains employees. This also includes performance management.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and audit standards (e.g. internal controls, ISO 9000).
  • Manages expense-based profit and loss statement (P&L) to plan.
  • Drives efficiencies within the facility using LEAN methodologies.
  • Maintains facility tour-ready standards.
  • Ensures preventative maintenance of the facility and all equipment (e.g. material handling equipment, wire cutting machines, racking systems, warehouse infrastructure).
  • Matches facility capacities to customer/sales professionals’ expectations. Works with sales professionals and leadership to ensure alignment with market strategy and accurately set customer expectations.
  • Works with other support departments such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Human Resources and Finance.
  • Actively engaged in developing annual budgets for the facility.
Qualifications
  • High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5+ years’ operations experience, specifically in distribution center facilities preferred
  • Experience managing a group or team of individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g. Excel, Word, Teams, Power Point)
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both group and individual settings
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities with a high sense of urgency
  • Ability to travel 0-25% of the time
Working Environment

Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment. The noise level is moderately quiet. Generally well ventilated and well lighted. Warehouse employees may be exposed to all kinds of weather and may be required to wear protective clothing. Operates heavy equipment. Strict safety regulations may be required.
