Overview

If the role interests you and you would like to be considered we encourage you to apply. We are looking for an Operational Technology Manager who will join our Supply Chain Engineering team remotely. This position will be based remotely anywhere in North America. The role may require travel up to 50% during peak times and should average 35%. The incumbent will perform a combination of Work from Home and travel to Scotts Miracle-Gro manufacturing sites (approximately 50 sites across the US and Canada). The Operational Technology Manager is responsible for building the strategy, identifying opportunities to improve production/quality/safety, communicating the vision and leading the implementation of operational technology within Scotts. They will be the subject matter expert for operational technology and work with stakeholders across the organization to understand needs of initiatives that involve operational technology and align to an optimal solution based on time to implement, fit, and cost. This role is an integral, high visibility position within the Global Supply Chain function helping to propel Scotts Miracle-Gro into the future.

Responsibilities
  • Build the strategy, identify opportunities, communicate the vision and lead the implementation of operational technology within Scotts.
  • Lead multiple paths of Operational Technology: planning, setting goals and executing for plant network architecture; hardware, software and coding standards, applications; cybersecurity.
  • Communicate the vision of Operational Technology to all levels of the organization and to internal and external stakeholders; create a roadmap aligned with the overall Automation and Supply Chain strategies and own the roadmap. Report on status of current and planned projects to leadership and present updates to key stakeholders.
  • Identify, lead, and advocate for operational technology opportunities by scoping projects, building business cases and delivering solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects from business case through completion, coordinating contractors, vendors and internal resources; define requirements and ensure delivery of high-quality solutions; collaborate with stakeholders to support project success.
  • Develop standards for OT hardware and PLC/HMI programming to aid standardized data collection.
  • Collaborate with other parts of the organization to identify OT needs to accomplish business goals and execute plans.
  • Partner with IT to develop plant floor network infrastructure, OT cybersecurity, and hardware/software standards that provide a scalable OT solution for the enterprise.
What you'll need to be successful
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Understanding of ISA-95 and ISA-99 in a manufacturing environment.
  • Industrial Robotics experience (Fanuc preferred).
  • 7 - 10 years of experience preferred, with at least 4 years of deep experience in the stated skills; 7 years preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISA-95/IEC-62264 for designing plant floor networks (firewalls, Layer 2/3 switching, remote access).
  • Knowledge of ISA-99/IEC-62443 for cyber and physical security on the plant floor.
  • Understanding of industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, DeviceNet, CIP, Modbus TCP/IP) and legacy methods (DH+).
  • Familiarity with industrial asset inventory methods, automated and manual.
  • Experience replacing legacy automation hardware with modern versions.
  • Understanding of PLC/HMI/SCADA programming.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing multiple projects in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong relationship-building across sites and support functions; excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, organization, and technology utilization skills.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities with urgency; strong business acumen and track record of leading change and delivering results.
Compensation and benefits

The starting budgeted pay range for this role is generally between $125,000.00 - $147,100.00 per year. Scotts will consider factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and location when determining actual pay. In addition to base salary, this role is incentive eligible under corporate bonus programs. For remote candidates residing in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state-required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
