Parenting Journey’s mission is to Fundamentally transform family and community wellbeing by centering on strengths-based, trauma-informed approaches that help families and communities thrive.


We do this by developing and teaching life-changing strategies, fostering a collaborative network of individuals and institutions that implement PJ programs and who advocate for better opportunities for families and communities.


ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Parenting Journey is a nonprofit training institute serving social services agencies and clinicians nationally and globally by helping parents build stronger, more resilient families. Since its founding in 1982, Parenting Journey has trained more than 3,300 human service professionals who offer Parenting Journey’s programs at more than 500 sites/organizations nationally and internationally, to the benefit of more than 52,000 parents and their 130,000 children.


Parenting Journey’s model is experiential and sits at the intersection of social justice, equity, and clinical practice by applying trauma-informed and strengths-based strategies for family development and resilience. Our work is anchored in Parenting Journey, our signature program. We also offer specialized versions of the program for immigrant parents and parents in recovery, and we are planning an expansion of our training, coaching, and advisory offerings. We serve several professional audiences by:

  • Partnering with parent- and family-serving organizations to provide transformative experiences through trauma- and stressor-informed programs
  • Engaging professionals and paraprofessionals working with families to discern and build on the strengths of those they serve
  • Equipping clinicians to incorporate these therapeutic strategies into their practice

Parenting Journey is undertaking a phase of expansion and investment that will highlight its training institute while capturing its attention to innovation, community and parent support, along with field building on a national and international scale. Our goal is to transform the health and well-being of families by expanding the adoption of Parenting Journey programs and practices in a way that is deeply intertwined with host agencies’ core mission and service models.

THE ROLE

The Manager of Training, reporting to the Director of Training, holds the role of Faculty as well as having distinct responsibilities for ensuring the operations of the training program, including:

  • Direct delivery of programs, including train-the-facilitator cohorts, 1:1 advisory services, professional development and continuing education offerings
  • Specific routine responsibilities that contribute to the daily operations for Training and Organizational Support program delivery, which may include tracking, data analysis and documentation.
  • Support for relationship management for a portfolio of agencies using PJ programs

The Manager of Training ’s responsibilities will be:

  • Delivery of Training, Parent Partnership Programming, Organizational Support and Professional Development programs

o As Faculty, provides direct delivery of present (i.e., PJ 1 and 2, PIA, PJR) and future PJ programs. This includes parent-facing program facilitator training, coaching and professional development services, and organizational support services

o Work with Program Coordinators to ensure responsive and timely program administration and operations, consistent and accurate agency data capture/relationship documentation

  • Day-to-day coordination and support for Training and Organizational Support program delivery

o Provide support to faculty during their training time regarding training content and group dynamics

o Coordination of staff and contractors for upcoming trainings, both virtual and in-person.

o Managing and maintaining current and potential continuing education accreditations

o Utilizes data management and tracking systems to both document specified operations, and as a resource to identify next steps in a process.

  • Support relationship management and business development

o Lead select relationships with a defined portfolio of partner agencies; carry out a coverage plan with regular touchpoints to conduct needs assessment and solicit feedback

o Is well versed in the array of PJ offerings and capabilities, sharing knowledge with current and prospective partners.

o Support contracting process with portfolio agencies where needed

In addition, the Manager of Training will interact with other members of the PJ team in key areas, including:

  • Working closely with the Director of Training and Senior Program Director to set goals and establish plans to serve portfolio agencies
  • Working closely with the Program Coordinator and tech/other support to prepare and manage training data capture and logistics

Note: this listing represents the majority of day-to-day responsibilities in this role, but other duties may be assigned as needed.

We seek candidates with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, along with a demonstrated interest in the human services sector. Key skills and attributes include:

  • Preferred masters degree or license in a related field (social work, mental health counseling, psychology, etc. Consideration given to individuals with related lived experience who demonstrate the skills and abilities outlined here.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness delivering training and/or facilitating group sessions
  • Preferred, familiarity with clinical theories and evidence-based approaches, including but not limited to family systems, strength-based, and trauma-informed modalities.
  • Willingness and capability to learn all facets of the Parenting Journey training program content and operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task, with strong detail orientation and collaboration
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); additional experience using cloud-based information systems (e.g., Salesforce, Canvas) is preferred

POSITION PROVISIONS

This is a full-time, remote-first position, and it requires an ability to travel periodically to Parenting Journey offices, professional meetings, and partner agencies.

SALARY

Salary range is $75,000-82,000 based on qualifications and experience. Please note, in an effort to increase equity and because salary negotiations tend to have an unfair bias, Parenting Journey will make its best offer, and it will use the same criteria for all offers.
