Job description


GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Rehabilitation Director, has responsibility for managing operations and personnel within the assigned therapy service delivery regions or sites. Works as a member of the management team of Rehabilitation Services to sustain regulatory compliance, maintain and improve appropriate clinical Rehab service delivery, and promote staff clinical skill development. May act for the Director in their absence.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Directs, guides, and supports the site/service supervisor in the performance of their duties and in the management of each Rehab site.

  2. Plans, organizes, and monitors each site's overall operational activities in conjunction with the respective supervisor, related to the provision of patient care, front desk functions, environmental/building issues and regulatory compliance.

  3. In sites without supervisors, provides staff with direct assignment of patient caseload, delegation of other tasks, assessment of staffing plan and staffing adjustments as needed.

  4. Overall responsibility for the management of all Rehabilitation staff within the assigned region. Assists in interviews and hires for all job postings within region. Completes individual staff performance reviews of supervisors and provides input to other staff members review as appropriate. Provides support for staff development; assists in progressive disciplinary action and development of remediation plans and performance improvement plans as necessary and terminates subordinates as indicated.

  5. Develops policies and procedures as necessary regarding the functions of the Rehab Service Line.

  6. Accountable for team members' compliance with quality assessment monitors, departmental policies and procedures.

  7. Assists in complaint resolution and staff incident reporting/resolution as necessary. Maintains standards of service excellence.

  8. Works as a liaison with medical staff, other HFHS management, medical center administrators and staff to promote quality patient care and program development.

  9. Works with the Director in the development of business growth plans, new site planning, and site re-locations.

  10. Monitors staff productivity and financial performance with respect to productivity targets and budget. Assists Director with necessary regional input related to revenue and expenses for budgeting.

  11. Works as a member of the Rehabilitation Services Management team; meeting regularly with the Director, and other regional managers. Assumes service line responsibility for various tasks and aspects of the following:
    a. Operational issues
    b. Regulatory compliance, standards of practice and state law Staff training and education
    c. Student programming
    d. New clinical programs, protocols, and delivery sites

  12. Represents Rehabilitation Services at community and/or professional functions. Performs other duties as needed.

  13. Performs patient treatment duties of a Physical or Occupational Therapist as desired; not a requirement of the job title.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • Physical Therapist Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of experience OR Master's/Doctorate degree acquired from a Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited program, OR Occupational Therapy Bachelor's degree acquired from an Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) accredited program, OR Speech and Language Pathologist Master's degree acquired from American Speech and Hearing Association.

  • Five (5) years of experience as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech and Language Pathologist.

  • Advanced degree in Business or Management preferred.

  • Experience in leadership role required.


CERTIFICATION/LICENSURES REQUIRED:



  • Current State of Michigan licensure.

  • Current CPR certification.
