Lamar Institute of Technology seeks a Manager of Police Academy to coordinate training courses and manage daily operations. This exempt-level position requires teaching and engaging students while ensuring compliance with TCOLE standards.
Qualified candidates should hold a High School Diploma, have 5 years of experience in criminal justice, and possess an Intermediate TCOLE Peace Officer License. The role additionally prefers certifications such as Taser Instructor. Duties include maintaining records, preparing lesson plans, and representing the Academy at events.

The Manager of Police Academy’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating LIT’s basic peace officer training course, assisting the Academy’s Director in managing the department’s daily operations and training activities, and teaching courses, as assigned. This is an exempt level position.
This position requires the ability to: remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine; frequently work in outdoor weather conditions; and frequently move items and equipment typically found in a law enforcement environment, up to 50 lbs.
