LOCATION: This position is mostly remote, with an expectation to be in the home office and schools when required.

ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP FOR LOS ANGELES SCHOOLS

Launched in 2007, the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools’ mission is to transform schools to revolutionize school systems, empowering all students with a high-quality education. The Partnership is a non-profit, in-district partner to LA Unified, not a charter network. As an independent nonprofit organization, the Partnership serves 13,550 students across 20 LA Unified schools in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Partnership is seeking a self-motivated and results-driven Manager of Institutional Giving to provide strategic support in its private and public fundraising efforts. The Manager of Institutional Giving will serve as a key member of the organization’s Development Team, overseeing grant management, facilitating grantmaking and reports, managing logistics for events and meetings related to fundraising and stewardship, and overseeing the administration of incoming gifts. This role will act as a liaison between the Development, Finance, and Program Teams, ensuring the Partnership delivers on the goals, objectives, and activities outlined in grant proposals, while also sharing the Partnership’s impact with funders by submitting reports in a timely manner. The Manager of Institutional Giving assists with general fundraising activities, including prospective and current donor research, preparation of briefs for donor meetings, donation and acknowledgment processing, communications, and event support. This is a full-time, year-round position.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward strategic and mission-aligned grant opportunities.
• Manage the grant writing and submission process, including writing grant proposals, developing grant budgets, and compiling supplemental materials.
• Oversee grant agreements, reporting, and documentation, ensuring compliance with individual grant requirements.
• Implement and monitor grant management tracking and calendar systems to ensure timely and accurate submissions to funders.
• Oversee the facilitation of grants across teams and functions through meeting facilitation, project management, and cross-team communication.
• Maintain an organized electronic filing system for all aspects of the grants cycle.
• Collaborate with the Finance Team to oversee tracking of grant funding and allocation to award budgets.

DEVELOPMENT ADMIN (30%)

• Support donor prospecting through research on mission-aligned foundations, corporations, and individuals with giving potential.
• Oversee Development Team data management, including grant awards, proposals, and contact information of funders.
• Generate donor acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
• Maintain internal financial records related to funding and collaborate with the Finance Team on financial reconciliation and the annual audit.
• Prepare presentations, briefing documents, and other materials for fundraising meetings.
• Prepare and submit grant agreements in a timely and accurate manner.
• Keep informed of best practices in philanthropy and fundraising, and implement improvements to the Partnership’s grants management process.
• Assist with Development and fundraising-related website and newsletter updates.
• Provide additional support to the Development Team, as needed or assigned.

EVENTS & ENGAGEMENT (10%)

• Support project management and day-of logistics for fundraising events and donor meetings.
• Represent the Partnership while engaging with foundations, corporations, and other nonprofits.
• Assist in planning and communications with fundraising campaigns.

POSITION FIRST-YEAR PRIORITIES

• The Manager will successfully identify and cultivate at least 10 new mission-aligned grant opportunities, submitting proposals with a target success rate of at least 50%.
• Implement and refine a comprehensive grant tracking and calendar system to ensure seamless communication across teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with funders by coordinating and delivering at least 8 high-quality stewardship reports and engagement opportunities.
• Integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles into grant narratives and donor engagement strategies.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development.
• Previous experience with grant writing, solicitation, management, and reporting is strongly preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organization and coordination skills with high attention to detail.
• Strong project management skills and experience using project management tools.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Proficiency in database management is a plus.
• Adaptable with shifting priorities and competing demands.
• Ability to work collaboratively across differences in work styles and skill sets.
• Strong computer and technology skills.
• The ability to travel between school sites and Partnership home office.
• Spanish language fluency preferred.
• Working understanding of K-12 public education sector preferred.
• A commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
• A willingness to learn, grow, and model the Partnership competencies.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting salary range for external candidates is $76,606-$82,079. The Partnership’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to our compensation practices. The exact salary for this position is set through the Partnership’s compensation policy and is dependent on the candidate’s relevant skills, experiences, and organizational tenure. The Partnership also offers a robust benefits package including employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance; a 403(b) retirement program with employee match; parental and sabbatical leaves; and generous paid time off.
