Manager of Infection Prevention (RN) FT Days

Department: BH-NURSING ADMIN

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of data gathering, i.e., investigating patient records and lab reports relative to infection control and inputs this information onto a computerized system. Works with Occupational Health to investigate cases of employee infection and exposures. Reports infectious disease cases to RI Department of Health.

Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews daily list of patient admissions for diagnoses indicative of infectious disease and/or nosocomial infection.
  2. Reviews all microbiology/lab reports daily and enters appropriate information in computer.
  3. Conducts patient surveillance rounds on nursing units.
  4. Consults with physicians and/or nursing staff regarding patient infections.
  5. Reports infectious disease cases to RI Department of Health.
  6. Collaborates with Occupational Health for investigation of Employee infections/exposures.
  7. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a minimum of five years job-related experience or equivalent is preferred.
  • RI State Licensure is also required. Experience or interest in infection control preferred.
