Job summary

Delaire Country Club is seeking a Manager of Golf Operations to assist the Director of Golf in daily operations, lead the Golf Shop staff, oversee tournaments and events, and ensure exceptional member service. The ideal candidate will be PGA Class A (preferred) with 3–5 years at a private club, strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • PGA Class A preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in private club operations.
  • Strong tournament operations experience.
  • Retail merchandising and inventory management experience.

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during golf season.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operation of the Golf Shop and facilities.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Director of Golf.
  • Maintain the highest standards of member and guest service.
  • Ensure Golf Shop is clean, organized, fully stocked, and professionally presented.
  • Supervise daily opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling and point-of-sale transactions.
  • Enforce club policies, pace of play, and golf etiquette.
  • Coordinate daily play with Outside Operations and Starter/Ranger staff.
  • Resolve member concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Plan, organize, and execute club tournaments and golf events.
  • Build and manage tournaments using Golf Genius.
  • Prepare pairings, scorecards, cart signs, scoreboards.
  • Coordinate tournament setup with Outside Operations and Maintenance.
  • Manage scoring, rules administration, and event results.
  • Oversee registration and check-in for tournaments.
  • Coordinate prize distribution and merchandise credits.
  • Prepare tournament recaps and reports.
  • Assist with tee sheet management and daily scheduling.
  • Maintain tournament calendars and operational schedules.
  • Prepare member communications and event notices.
  • Maintain accurate records for tournaments, inventory, and merchandising.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and payroll verification.
  • Assist with purchasing, receiving, and displaying merchandise.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels for hard goods and soft goods.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconciliation.
  • Process special orders for members.
  • Monitor inventory turnover and minimize shrinkage.
  • Coordinate vendor relationships and product deliveries.
  • Assist with seasonal merchandising strategies.
  • Maintain demo club inventory and fitting equipment.
  • Supervise Assistant Professionals, Golf Shop staff, and seasonal employees.
  • Assist with onboarding and training.
  • Promote professionalism and outstanding customer service.
  • Mentor junior professionals pursuing PGA Membership.
  • Foster teamwork and a positive workplace culture.
  • Build strong relationships with members and guests.
  • Deliver personalized service that exceeds expectations.
  • Promote member engagement through tournaments, clinics, and instructional programs.
  • Support member retention through exceptional hospitality.

Overview

The Manager of Golf Operations is responsible for assisting the Director of Golf in the daily management and operation of the golf program while ensuring an exceptional private club experience for the membership. This position provides leadership to the Golf Shop staff, oversees golf operations, manages tournaments and events, maintains merchandising and inventory standards, and delivers outstanding member service.

The ideal candidate is an organized, service-oriented PGA Professional who demonstrates strong leadership, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create a welcoming environment for members and guests.

Experience Required
Qualifications
  • PGA of America Class A Professional (preferred)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in private club operations
  • Strong tournament operations experience

  • Support junior golf programming and member player development initiatives.
  • Promote instructional programs to increase member engagement and enhance the overall golf experience.
  • Maintain current knowledge of teaching techniques, technology, and equipment to provide a first-class instructional experience.
