Job summary

Verdun Oil Company seeks a Manager of Financial Reporting to lead independent, proactive financial reporting tasks within the Accounting team. This role oversees staff, ensures GAAP compliance, and drives timely financial closes.

You will produce consolidated quarterly and annual statements, draft technical memos, and coordinate with auditors. Strong Excel and BOLO experience, plus SEC reporting knowledge, are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting.
• Minimum 7 years of oil and gas accounting or financial reporting experience.
• Big Four audit experience and SEC reporting knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure financial statements comply with GAAP.
• Draft and complete technical accounting memos as needed.
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements by entity and consolidated.
• Review and tie-out internal and external financial statements.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing duties.
• Reconcile balances and prepare schedules supporting statements.

EssentialDutiesandResponsibilities

Thispositioncomeswiththefollowingminimumsetofresponsibilitiesandrequiresanindividualtobeproficientinperformingthelistedduties:

• ResponsibleforensuringthefinancialstatementsareinlinewithGAAP.
• Responsiblefordraftingandcompletingtechnicalaccountingmemosasneeded.
• Responsibleforproducingmonthly,quarterly,andannualfinancialstatements(byentityandconsolidated).
• Responsibleforreviewsandtie-outofinternalandexternalmonthly,quarterly,andannualfinancialstatements.
• Responsibleforperformingmonth-end,quarter-end,andyear-endclosingduties.
• Responsibleforanalyticalreviewoffinancialstatements(includingreviewofBSAndISvarianceanalyses).
• Responsibleforpreparingschedulesunderlyingfinancialstatementsanddisclosures.
• ResponsibleforpostingaccrualsforAdValorem,G&A,Interest,Bonus,LOE,andRevenue.
• Responsibleforreconcilingaccountbalances,includingCash,A/R,O&GAssets,A/P,Accruals,Debt,andARO.
• Responsibleforcompletingad-hocanalysis,varianceanalysis,andspecialprojectsthatrequireknowledgeofofilandgasaccounting.
• Responsibleforvariousreportingpackagestooutsideentitiesandauditors.
• Responsibleformaintainingemployeeconfidenceandtheprotectionofcorporateassets,includingintellectualproperty,bykeepinginformationconfidential.
• Responsibleforsupervisingotherfinancialreportingstaff.
• ResponsibleforworkingsafelywithinVerdun’shealth,safety,andenvironmentalstandards,lookingoutforthepeoplearoundthem,andactivelysupportingHS&EprogramsandpoliciesthroughouttheCompany.
• Allotherdutiesandresponsibilitiesassignedbymanagement

Qualifications&Skills

Belowaretheminimumeducation,experience,andskillsrequiredorpreferredforthisposition:

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’sdegreeinbusiness,finance,accounting,orequivalentpreferred.
• Atleast7years’oilandgasaccountingorfinancialreportingexperiencerequired.
• BigFourorauditexperiencewithknowledgeofSECreportingandcontrolspreferred.

OtherSkills

• Abilitytomeetstrictdeadlinesbyworkingoff-hoursasrequiredtoachievegoals.
• Abilitytoworkindependentlyonmultiplediversetasksofdifferingprioritieswithoutsupervision.

ComputerSkills
