Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) is seeking a skilled and motivated Manager of Energy Contracts and Settlementsto join our team of professionals committed to delivering carbon-free energy to over 1.2 million customers across California’s Central Coast.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Under the direction of the Director of Power Resources, the Manager of Energy Contracts and Settlements has responsibility for deal entry of new power purchase and energy storage agreements, pre-operational construction monitoring of existing contracts, energy invoicing and settlements; managing settlement discrepancies and disputes; managing contract amendments and renegotiations; CAISO settlements; performs back-office risk mitigation, and compliance and operations reporting.

This position may supervise staff.

3CE is a Community Choice Aggregation agency established by local communities to source clean and renewable electricity at responsible rates for more than 1.2 million residential, commercial, and agricultural customers throughout Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties. 3CE is locally controlled and governed by board members who represent the communities served by the agency.

3CE is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through local control of utility-scale renewable electricity generation, investment in new renewable power projects, and the implementation of innovative energy programs that facilitate the electrification of transportation and the built environment. 3CE promotes long-term electric rate stability and energy security while reducing reliance on fossil fuels and stimulating the local economy.


The Manager of Energy Contracts and Settlements is responsible for all aspects of managing 3CE’s power supply contracts, including overseeing 3CE’s power supply contract lifecycle, formulating and implementing improvements for contract administration and settlements processes, and submitting regulatory compliance filings.

The Manager of Energy Contracts and Settlements is part of the Power Supply Resources team and works closely with 3CE’s data & analytics and regulatory affairs teams along with external consultants and vendors. This position may also provide support and analysis as needed to power resource planning, competitive solicitations, and the development of customer energy programs.Knowledge of:
  • Energy Contract Management lifecycles and Energy Settlements invoicing & validation best practices
  • The structure and content of standard power purchase agreements and energy storage agreements.
  • Regulatory reporting and compliance requirements of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), including California’s Renewables Portfolio Standard, Power Content Label and Power Source Disclosure program.
  • Energy generation and energy storage technologies including wind, biomass, geothermal, solar, solar, hydroelectric, and lithium-ion batteries.
  • Procurement process and use of renewable energy certificates to support mandatory and voluntary compliance programs and the Western Renewable Energy Information System (WREGIS).
  • The California Independent System Operator (CAISO) settlement process.
  • Power scheduling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Ability to:
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures, backgrounds, and languages
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to display proficiency in both verbal and written communication, including public speaking, media relations, and crafting clear, persuasive messaging.

Any combination of training, education, and experience that provides the knowledge skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position is qualifying.

Education:Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance or a related field

OR

Experience: Five (5) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in contract management and/or settlements
AND
At least two years in supervising or leading staff and/or team.
Highly Desirable:Experience working with energy market platforms or settlements and advanced Excel modeling and data analysis skills.

Additional Requirements: This position may involve working nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Additionally, occasional overnight travel may be required. Use of own personal vehicle will be required, applicable mileage reimbursement will be applied.

HYBRYID WORK SCHEDULE AS DESIGNATED BY CEO:Current remote workdays are scheduled on Monday's and Thursday's OREmployee may elect to work a 9/80 work schedule with alternating Friday'sorMonday's off.

BENEFITS:3CE offers a competitive benefits structure to its full-time employees.

RETIREMENT-Employees contribute 10% of their salary on a pre-tax basis towards the PARS retirement system. Employer contributes 10% towards PARS.

HEALTH INSURANCE- 3CE pays 90% employer paid coverage for employee plus family coverage. 100% employer paid for single coverage towardsmedical, dental, and vision. 3CE contributes up to $2400 annually towards flexible spending benefits and $3600.00 towards HRA.

HEALTH & WELLNESS-3CE contributes $1,000 per fiscal year for health, wellness and EV reimbursement.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION-3CE offers 457 deferred compensations.

PTO-Accrued by tenure. 160 hours cap.

CELL PHONE ALLOWANCE-This position is eligible for a cell phone allowance of $50.00 monthly.
