Job summary

Brenntag is seeking a Controller to act as a co-pilot for business unit managers, ensuring transparency on performance and creating plans to meet strategic goals, including M&A support. The role collaborates with divisional controlling teams to ensure smooth operations across key activity fields.

Responsibilities include driving group-wide improvement initiatives, coordinating annual planning, and leading projects to refine organizational setup and performance management tools.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Accounting and/or Finance is required.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a CPA or Master’s in Finance or Accounting.
  • 2+ years of experience in public accounting or FP&A is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with business representatives to provide insights on key performance metrics and highlight potential for improvements.
  • Structure and drive group-wide improvement initiatives.
  • Support ongoing transformation journey of the divisions towards higher level of autonomy, with special emphasis on further developing the performance management framework/tools and establishing structures fostering competitive internal services
  • Lead/Support projects in connection with the further development and finetuning of the new organizational set-up
  • Drive Divisional Strategy and Performance Cycle
  • Coordinate divisional performance reviews, ensuring that key topics are addressed and followed up.
  • Coordination of divisional activities within annual planning cycle.
  • Lead special task forces as required to address key challenges and opportunities.
  • Drive regular strategy review process together with corporate strategy.

Education

BA/BS in Accounting and/or Finance is required
CPA or Master’s in Finance or Accounting
2+ years of experience in public accounting or FP&A is preferred

The Controller is responsible for acting as a co-pilot for business unit manager(s) by ensuring transparency on business performance, creating plans to meet strategy (including M&A support), identifying plan deviations and business risks, pro-actively generating counter measures, and tracking and measuring implementation of initiatives. Additionally, responsible for cooperation with divisional controlling teams to ensure smooth collaboration in key activity fields.
