Job description

About the Job:

The Washington State Dental Association (WSDA) has been the voice of dentistry in WA since 1887. Representing over 4,000 member dentists, our mission is to be the leader in advocacy and support for dentists pursuing excellence.

WSDA operates a growing portfolio of programs, events, services, and brands serving dentists and dental practices across WA and beyond. These include the Pacific Northwest Dental Conference (PNDC), ComplyBetter, and L&I Advantage, in addition to membership, recruitment, advocacy, education, events, local dental society communications, and other member communications.

WSDA is hiring a Manager of Communications and Marketing to manage and execute marketing and communications across the Association and its related brands. This role is responsible for turning organizational priorities into coordinated, effective campaigns across email, social media, websites, digital advertising, print, creative assets, and other channels.

The Manager will work closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing and the Communications Coordinator. This role will serve as a key resource for campaign strategy, messaging, creative direction, and brand consistency while collaborating across WSDA departments to ensure communications are timely, accurate, on-brand, and aligned with organizational goals. The Manager will also help strengthen the distinct positioning of WSDA, PNDC, ComplyBetter, and L&I Advantage while maintaining appropriate consistency across the broader brand family.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, creative, detail-oriented, organized, and results-driven marketing professional who can manage multiple brands and competing priorities, write and edit compelling content, oversee creative development, build and execute campaigns using marketing tools, and use data to continually improve marketing performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing and Campaign Management

  • Manage day-to-day marketing and communications efforts for WSDA and its related brands and events, including PNDC, ComplyBetter, and L&I Advantage.
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that support membership recruitment and retention, program growth, event attendance/engagement, product sales, advocacy, member engagement, and other organizational priorities.
  • Translate strategic goals established by the Director of Communications and Marketing and organizational leadership into actionable marketing plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Manage campaign calendars and coordinate overlapping communications across multiple brands and audiences to ensure appropriate timing, message frequency, and channel mix.
  • Identify opportunities to improve audience segmentation, personalization, automation, and cross-promotion across WSDA programs and brands.
  • Manage execution of ComplyBetter and L&I Advantage marketing and communications plans, partnering with the Membership Engagement and Growth Specialist and program staff to align campaigns with lead generation, sales, recruitment, and enrollment goals.
  • Manage execution of the PNDC marketing and communications plan in partnership with conference and Association staff.
  • Evaluate campaign performance across channels and use results, audience feedback, and organizational goals to recommend adjustments and future marketing strategies.

Cross-Team Collaboration and Brand Alignment

  • Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator on campaign execution, providing messaging, creative direction, templates, and other resources needed to support consistent implementation.
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource and first point of consultation for the Communications Coordinator and other team members on marketing, messaging, brand, and campaign-related questions within the Manager’s areas of responsibility.
  • Review relevant materials for alignment with established campaign strategy, messaging, and brand standards before involving the Director, as appropriate.

Email and Digital Communications

  • Manage the development, scheduling, testing, and deployment of email and SMS communications and marketing campaigns across WSDA and its related brands.
  • Write, edit, and proofread email content, landing pages, digital advertisements, website copy, SMS copy, and other marketing communications.
  • Maintain audience lists and segmentation strategies in coordination with membership, event, sales, and program data.
  • Monitor deliverability, open rates, click-through rates, conversions, and other performance metrics and use results to improve future campaigns.
  • Support development and management of automated email journeys and other lifecycle communications where appropriate.

Social Media and Content

  • Manage WSDA and related brand social media channels, including content planning, copywriting, scheduling, community engagement, follower growth, and performance tracking.
  • Develop and maintain content calendars that align social media and digital channels with organizational priorities, events, campaigns, and timely member communications.
  • Create and coordinate content that is relevant and useful to dentists, dental teams, members, prospective members, customers, partners, and other key audiences.
  • Work directly with member dentists to develop and share content featuring member voices, stories, and experiences.
  • Monitor social media trends, platform changes, and audience engagement to identify opportunities for stronger reach and interaction.

Creative Development and Brand Management

  • Manage development of creative assets including digital graphics, print materials, advertisements, event collateral, presentations, signage, and other promotional materials.
  • Create materials directly when appropriate and coordinate with internal staff, freelancers, agencies, printers, and other vendors for larger or specialized projects.
  • Maintain and enforce brand standards for WSDA, PNDC, ComplyBetter, and L&I Advantage while supporting the distinct identity and audience needs of each brand.
  • Ensure all marketing and communications materials are accurate, professional, visually consistent, and aligned with organizational messaging.
  • Maintain organized libraries of brand assets, templates, photography, logos, and other creative resources.

Websites and Digital Presence

  • Manage routine marketing content updates across WSDA and related brand websites and landing pages.
  • Coordinate with internal staff and external web or technology partners on larger website improvements, campaign pages, and digital projects.
  • Use website and campaign analytics to identify opportunities to improve user experience, engagement, and conversions.
