Owen Electric Cooperative is seeking an experienced communications professional to lead how the cooperative communicates with members, employees, community partners, media and the public. The role will shape messaging, write content and manage campaigns across website, social media and internal communications.

The position requires a 4-year degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field, with experience in advertising, PR and communications.

Qualifications

• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have a pleasant telephone presence.
• Must be able to quickly assist both members and co-workers; must work well under pressure.
• Creative and dynamic ability to compose effective advertising programs and the content to support such programs.
• Computer and desktop software publishing skills are required.
• Web publishing skills are preferred.
• Effective managerial and organizational skills to manage the overall marketing and advertising program.
• Working knowledge of the electric utility industry in general.
• Understanding of the cooperative model of business.

Responsibilities

• Shape how Owen Electric Cooperative communicates with members, employees, community partners, media and the public.
• Orchestrate communications campaigns for the website, social media, publications and internal communications.
• Represent the cooperative in the public arena.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to craft messaging and campaigns.
• Coordinate with Corporate Services on communications projects and initiatives.
• Support branding, advertising and media relations efforts.

Owen Electric Cooperative is seeking an experienced communications professional to play a central role in shaping how the cooperative communicates with its members, employees, community partners, media and the public. The successful candidate will bring strong writing skills, public speaking experience, sound judgement, creativity and a passion for connecting people with the work of their local electric cooperative. This role is largely responsible for representing the cooperative in the public arena while also orchestrating our communications campaigns with regards to Owen Electric’s website, social media platforms, publications, and internal communications.

Education:

• Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field required.
• An associate degree with appropriate experience may be substituted.

Experience:

• Prior experience in advertising, public relations, and communications work preferred.

Six months on-the-job training may be necessary before employee can perform satisfactory with minimum supervision.
