Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Manager of Collection Assessment and Resource Sharing to lead the library’s evaluation of collections and to supervise resource sharing and interlibrary loan services. You will work with stakeholders across the university to ensure robust, accessible resources for a large learner population.

The role requires a Master’s in Library Science (ALA-accredited), two years of academic library experience, and strong supervisory and vendor-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and student workers in resource sharing and acquisitions.
• Coordinate tools and systems for collection assessment and acquisitions (e.g., Panorama, GOBI).
• Engage with vendors to assess resources and communicate findings.
• Support cross-functional work within Shapiro Library and related units.

The opportunity

The Manager of Collection Assessment and Resource Sharing oversees and performs collection assessment activities in alignment with policy and strategic direction, utilizing data and feedback to identify trends and opportunities. They provide leadership and management for the University Library's resource sharing and delivery service, including interlibrary loan, off-campus library services and document delivery to the SNHU community. They collaborate with stakeholders across the university to ensure library collections are robust, effective, and support university and learner needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides oversight and performs collection assessment including identifying and implementing evaluation criteria for selection, renewal, and deselection in alignment with policy and strategic direction.
• Provides leadership and management for the University Library's resource sharing and delivery services, including interlibrary loan, off-campus library services and document delivery; monitors workflows, develops policies, and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Performs acquisition functions including addressing library resource requests and collaborating with stakeholders to identify solutions to resource needs.
• Collaborates with technology and collection teams to use internal and external collection-related data to support assessment and decision-making.
• Supervise staff and student workers performing resource sharing and delivery services, collection assessment, and acquisition functions.
• Collaborates across Shapiro Library to use and maintain collection assessment and acquisitions tools and systems (e.g. Panorama, EBSCO Usage Consolidation, GOBI, etc.) and resource sharing and delivery tools and systems (OCLC Tipasa, Article Galaxy Reprints Desk, etc.).
• Participates in vendor management including communicating with library resource vendors regarding assessment and analysis of library resources.
• Supports cross-functional work across the Shapiro Library.
• Other duties and projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Years of experience: Two years of academic library experience
• Degree(s): Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program
• Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable: X Yes No
• Professional certification(s): N/A
• Experience with collection assessment and analysis practices within academic libraries
• Knowledge of ILL standards and policies, including copyright compliance
• Prior supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of library acquisitions practices
• Experience with library resource delivery systems and integrated library systems, OCLC Tipasa and/or FOLIO

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $60,209.00 - $96,352.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $66,531.00 - $90,013.00.
