Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Manager of Accounting/Reimbursement to lead and optimize the reimbursement function. The role oversees financial reporting, audits, and compliance, ensuring accurate cost reports and budget alignment.

Hybrid work arrangement in New Jersey, with collaboration across departments. Qualified candidates have 5–7 years in reimbursement accounting, supervisory experience, and strong GAAP knowledge, plus proficiency in Excel, Word, and accounting systems.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of reimbursement (accounting/finance) experience.
• 1–3 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare Cost Report and NJ Acute Care Reporting.
• Strong organizational, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Working knowledge of Windows, Word and Excel; Oracle and EPIC a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reviews monthly, quarterly and annual surveys, audits, cost reports and related statements.
• Provides leadership and day-to-day direction for the reimbursement department.
• Organizes accounting personnel to collect, summarize and interpret financial data.
• Manages filings to Regulatory Agencies, including IRS 990 and NJ Charitable Registration, Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.
• Coordinates annual budget process and interacts with internal/external auditors.
• Implements new financial controls and supports reimbursement operations.

Oversees monthly, quarterly and annual reports, surveys and Governmental audits (financial statements, stakeholder statements, budget, statistics, revenue, expense and reviews variance analysis.) Evaluates, recommends and implements systems, policies & procedures. Establishes and maintains effective communications with operational managers to review reimbursement reports, surveys and audits (budget variances) and promote resource stewardship. **Position Responsibilities:** • Reviews the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual surveys, audits, and cost reports (financial, budget and statistical statements, account analysis of balance sheet, expense and revenue accounts). Checks for thoroughness, staff follow-through, and empowers the staff to make recommendations for improvements. • Provides leadership and day to day direction for the reimbursement (finance) department. • Effectively utilizes staff to perform at optimal levels. • Organizes and directs accounting personnel in collecting, summarizing, and interpreting financial data for use by management. • Manages the process for the completion of all financial reporting to Regulatory Agencies, including Federal and State surveys .( I.E. IRS 990 tax exempt return, NJ Charitable Registration,) Medicare, Medicaid and state Cost reports (and Bond Compliance). • Manages the year-end (financial audit and) quarterly and annual surveys and cost reports, including the preparation of work papers, and interaction with internal and external auditors. •( Manages and coordinates the annual budget process, educates and assists operational leadership with departmental workbooks and summarizes budget detail for senior management.) • Implements new systems related to financial controls and assists in matters as they relate to reimbursement (financial) operations. • Serves as System Administrator in various reimbursement (financial) systems) for IE: Cost report system and other CMS systems **Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:** Five to seven years of Reimbursement (accounting or finance) experience with one to three years supervisory experience preferred. Must possess knowledge and understanding of the Medicare Cost Report and NJ Acute Care Reporting (accounting practice and theory, specifically Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.) Ability to work independently to achieve goals and prioritize work assignments. Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Must have a working knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel. Oracle and EPIC experience a plus Thorough knowledge of general ledger software packages. **Required Education:** Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting or Finance. (Certification as public or managerial accountant) or Master’s Degree in Business Administration in related field is preferred.Annual Salary: $98,700 - $158,398The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.This position is eligible to participate in one of Virtua’s annual incentive compensation plan (AICP).
