Job summary

Jobtailor in Itasca, IL is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Coordinator to lead import operations and supervise a small team. You will oversee carrier selection, bookings, and freight movement while ensuring compliance with customs and trade regulations.

You will collaborate with logistics, finance, and operations to optimize service delivery, build customer and vendor relationships, and drive cost-efficient processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Prior ocean imports and supervisory experience highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with ocean freight regulations, customs requirements, and export controls.
  • Knowledge of shipping routes and schedules.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics software.

  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations and trade laws.
  • Stay updated on ocean freight regulations and import controls.
  • Develop and implement policies to improve efficiency and service quality.
  • Identify and execute process improvements to reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs like delivery times, costs, and service quality.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Supervise a team of ocean import coordinators and support staff.
