Job summary

Gilbert Unified School District in Gilbert Elementary is seeking a Manager - Nutrition Service Elementary to supervise food services, organize meal preparation, and ensure quality and quantity for daily operations.

You will oversee staff, manage inventory, prepare program reports, and ensure health and safety compliance across site operations. This role requires reporting back to the Nutrition Services leadership and collaborating with school teams.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Serv-Safe certificate is required.
  • Valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.

Manager - Nutrition Service Elementary


Purpose Statement

The job of Manager - NS Elementaryis done for the purpose of supervising food services activities at assigned sites, organizing food preparation activities, assisting employees with food preparation and service; confirming quantities and quality of food items are available for use, providing written reports and complying with mandated health requirements.



Essential Functions


  • Estimates food preparation amounts and adjusts recipes. If required, for the purpose of meeting projected meal requirements and minimizing waste.

  • Inspects food and/or supply deliveries for the purpose of verifying quantity and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health requirements.

  • Inventories food, condiments, supplies and equipment at specified intervals for the purpose of ensuring availability of items.

  • Order food, equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining an adequate inventory to complete jobs efficiently within budget guidelines.

  • Oversees the preparation, cooking, serving and transportation of food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional and health requirements.

  • Performs functions of other positions within area of responsibility for the purpose of ensuring adequate coverage of food service operation.

  • Prepares reports and documents (e.g. meal program records, inventory reports, reconciliation reports, cash summary, payroll sheets, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.

  • Processes receipts for the purpose of completing and documenting transactions and/or preparing deposits for pick up.

  • Responds to inquiries of students, staff and the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding available food items.

  • Orients new employees to work center and school site processes for the purpose of providing information regarding site operations and activities.

  • Trains and manages assigned employees for the purpose of providing direction and guidance.

  • Monitors food service facilities (e.g. kitchen equipment, trays, utensils, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe, clean and sanitary working environment.



Other Functions


  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Mental Requirements


  • Learning Development- Level B Sufficient to read and write technical information and instructions, perform basic arithmetic calculations, understand commonly used procedures and methods, or operate equipment that requires some training. Learning development is equivalent to completion of a high school curriculum.

  • Problem Solving - Level 1 Work situations are routine and regularly recurring, requiring attention and concentration, but limited discretion, consideration, and planning to adequately respond and carry out work activities.



Physical Requirements


  • Physical Skill - Level A Basic level of learned physical skill is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.

  • Physical Effort - Level 2 Job requires light physical effort as a part of regular work routine, such as frequent standing and walking; frequent lifting, guiding, and/or carrying of light-weight materials or equipment; occasional periods of sustained effort.

Experience, Education, and Certifications

Experience: Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required


Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
