Job summary

The University of Miami Health System in Miami, FL is seeking a Manager of Nursing and Clinical Education to lead day-to-day operations and long-term planning for professional development across nursing staff.

You will direct staff, collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and ensure adherence to state nurse practice acts and nursing standards while driving performance improvement and staff education initiatives across the department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required.
• Valid State of Florida RN license required

Responsibilities

• Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
• Maintains nursing operations by coordinating program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
• Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division’s philosophies and standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements, and to other governing agency regulations, and measuring outcomes against standards.
• Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
• Maintains nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing related procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Accounts for the collection of data to ensure performance improvement and optimal customer service standards.
• Assures all staff meet mandatory continuing education requirements and yearly hospital-based competencies
• Provides insight on the department operations to nursing leadership to assist in the development of strategic planning and departmental expansion.
• Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the department and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
