University of Miami is seeking a Core Nurse Educator 3 (H) to lead educational initiatives for nursing and clinical staff within UHealth. The role emphasizes designing, coordinating and evaluating programs, orientation, onboarding and ongoing competency assessment, in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required.
  • Valid State of Florida RN license required.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, design, coordinate/conduct, facilitate and evaluate educational programs for nursing and clinical staff based on identified learning needs.
  • Develop and evaluate activities to improve knowledge, skills, or practice.
  • Collaborate with practitioners, leaders, nurses, educators, providers, patient care staff, and unit management to provide continuing nursing education.
  • Create an education plan for patient care staff to ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Support ongoing assessment and evaluation of the skills, knowledge, abilities, and judgement of licensed and non-licensed healthcare personnel.
  • Design, facilitate, and evaluate orientation of licensed and unlicensed healthcare personnel during onboarding and changes in roles.
  • Create, coordinate, manage, facilitate and evaluate onboarding and orientation programs for healthcare personnel.
  • Initiate partnerships and participate in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • 1. Assesses, designs, coordinates/conducts/facilitates and evaluates educational programs for nursing and clinical staff based on environmental scanning results: identified practice gaps, regulatory/accreditation, specialty standards, PI reports, mission/values, policies, procedures, guidelines, and learning needs.
  • 2. Develops and evaluates activities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skills, or practice.
  • 3. Creates a learning environment by collaborating with practitioners, leaders, nurses, educators, providers, patient care staff, and unit management in providing continuing nursing education, quality education, and interprofessional education.
  • 4. Collaborates with the educators to develop an education plan for patient care staff to ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • 5. Supports ongoing assessment and evaluation of the skills, knowledge, abilities, and judgement of licensed and non-licensed healthcare personnel.
  • 6. Measures, documents, and supports competency, and addresses competency deficits in staff members and teams.
  • 7. Assesses and evaluates the process of hiring, orienting, socializing, and integrating an employee to the organization with a focus on retention and growth.
  • 8. Designs, facilitates, and evaluates orientation of licensed and unlicensed healthcare personnel during onboarding and when changes in roles, responsibilities, and practice settings occur.
  • 9. Creates, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts, and evaluates onboarding and orientation programs for licensed and unlicensed healthcare personnel.
  • 10. Initiates collaborative partnerships and promotes and participates in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • 11. Appraises professional knowledge by partnering with individuals, groups, and/or organizations to share expertise in planning and decision-making to achieve common goals. Collaborative partnerships may include interprofessional groups within the organization, academic/practice partnerships, and community partnerships.
  • 12. Participates in the planning, approval and evaluation of applicable continuing education programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  • 13. Teaches, coordinates, serves as liaison, and advises others concerning education and learning.
  • 14. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Bachelor's degree in relevant field required

Certification and Licensing
