Job summary

Metro Transit is seeking a Manager, MT Accounting to provide strategic direction for accounting functions and to integrate financial management and reporting for bus and rail operations in coordination with the Metropolitan Council.

The role coordinates financial reporting for internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring audit compliance and delivering expert financial leadership in response to requests from legislators, funding partners, and executive management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.
• Experience with governmental accounting and reporting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls and financial audits.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for accounting functions and financial reporting.
• Coordinate reporting for internal stakeholders (Senior Management, General Manager, Management Committee) and external partners (FTA, Legislature, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with federal and state audits and regulatory requirements.
• Offer financial leadership and respond to Legislative, Funding Partner, and Executive Management requests.

This role is responsible for coordination of financial reporting for internal stakeholders (Senior Management, General Manager, Management Committee) and external partners (County Funding Partners, FTA, Legislature, etc.). The position ensures Federal and State audit compliance and provides financial leadership and expertise in response to Legislative, Funding Partner, and Executive Management requests. Education in financial disciplines is essential to maintain strong financial controls.
