Job summary

Apple, Inc. in Culver City, California, is seeking a Sr. ML Optimization Engineer to lead large-scale optimization across ASE’s cloud services. You’ll fuse ML, forecasting, and capacity planning to improve efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining reliability and performance.

You will collaborate with service owners, SREs, data scientists, and finance partners to design scalable solutions, build reusable tooling, and influence service cost structures across Apple’s global cloud platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in large-scale cloud services or similar environments.
• 2+ years of engineering management experience.
• Strong software engineering background with ML-based modeling, time-series forecasting, and data-driven decision making for cloud services.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with clear cross-functional communication.
• Hands-on experience with platform observability tools for deep service insights and optimization.
• Experience developing cost models and strategies for software services to ensure optimal resource utilization and cost-effectiveness.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead and help optimize the design, deployment, and operation of services across ASE.
• Collaborate with service owners, infrastructure and SRE teams, capacity planners, data scientists, and finance partners to align with cloud sustainability and resource utilization principles.
• Formulate and solve large-scale optimization problems to allocate capacity, schedule workloads, and minimize cost under reliability and latency constraints, and integrate these solutions into reusable software and tooling.
• Your work will directly contribute to improving service performance and resource utilization across ASE, influencing the unit cost of services and the overall customer experience.
