Agility Robotics is seeking a Manager of Mechanical Engineering to lead a team of 4–8 engineers and drive robotic product design from concept through production. You will mentor engineers, remove roadblocks, and act as a technical leader for complex robotic systems.

On-site collaboration at the Fremont, CA facility is expected, with strong cross-functional communication to senior management and a focus on delivering robust, scalable designs aligned with company goals.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent required).
• 8+ years mechanical design experience with 2+ years direct management.
• Experience designing and building complex systems, robotics or autonomous systems preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with mechanical design, CAD and PDM.
• Ability to work on-site as needed (minimum 4 days per month).
• Authorized to work in the USA.

About The Role

The Manager, Mechanical Engineering will both manage mechanical engineers and will be a technical leader who works closely with cross functional teams to drive the successful execution of the robot design.

About The Work

• Lead and inspire a talented team of 4 - 8 mechanical engineers to bring products from concept all the way to production.
• Provide coaching, mentorship and guidance, helping the team enhance their skills, improve the quality of their work, and grow professionally.
• Work cross functionally to anticipate and remove roadblocks.
• Be a technical leader for complex robotics systems.
• Develop right-sized process to help the team work more effectively and to produce high quality, reliable designs.
• Regularly communicate project progress, key milestones, and any challenges that arise to senior management.
• Reduce complexity by pushing for simple and elegant designs.
• Drive data-driven decisions and ensure the cross functional team understands the "why".

About You

• Demonstrated extreme ownership, thrive in ambiguity, fast paced environment
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience with 2+ years direct management experience
• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent, minimum requirement)
• Proven experience designing and building complex systems, ideally with a background in robotics or autonomous systems
• Demonstrated experience mechanical design, CAD and PDM
• Skilled in conflict resolution and team development
• Ability to be on-site at Agility's design facility as needed (minimum 4 days per month and as needed to support design activities, reviews, prototype testing, etc.)
• Authorization to work in the USA

Location

• This is an onsite position at our Fremont, CA office.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Agility Robotics is a multi‑state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions who work in other locations. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Anticipated Base Salary Range

$181,000—$240,000 USD
