Job summary

Prime Data Centers in Dallas seeks a Manager, Mechanical Engineering to lead mechanical design for tenant deployments in data halls, focusing on cooling distribution, containment, and airflow management.

You will coordinate with Base Build Mechanical Engineering, interface with cross-disciplinary teams, mentor a group of designers, and ensure code-compliant, constructible solutions for mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience in data centers.
• Hands-on cooling system design: CRAH/CRAC, in-row cooling, containment.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for tenant fit-out projects in data halls, including cooling distribution, containment, and airflow management.
• Size and coordinate tenant cooling loads against base-build capacity; interface with Base Build Mechanical Engineering on capacity allocation and tie-in points.
• Translate customer mechanical and redundancy requirements into constructible, code-compliant designs.
• Manage and mentor a team of mechanical designers/engineers; review drawings and calculations for quality and code compliance.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Structural, BIM, and Estimating to resolve interdisciplinary conflicts and deliver integrated designs.
• Support commissioning activities and resolve field mechanical issues arising during tenant build-outs.
• Maintain standard mechanical details, specifications, and design guidelines for TFO scopes.

About the role

The Manager, Mechanical Engineering leads mechanical design for customer deployments within Prime's data halls, including cooling distribution, containment, and airflow management within tenant white space. This role ensures tenant cooling designs align with available base-build mechanical capacity and customer thermal requirements.

• Size and coordinate tenant cooling loads against available base-build mechanical capacity; interface with Base Build Mechanical Engineering on capacity allocation and tie-in points

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience, ideally within data center or other mission-critical facility environments
• Hands-on experience with data hall cooling systems: CRAH/CRAC units, in-row cooling, containment, and airflow management
• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit or comparable mechanical design tools
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
