Job summary

Clinton Health Access Initiative is seeking an analytical program leader to drive health impact through cost-effective health programs. This role involves engaging with teams and stakeholders to evaluate and synthesize information for impactful program funding.

Qualifications

Overview

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. We work at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems.

CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life‑saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work in conjunction with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID‑19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non‑communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing. Program and Position Overview

CHAI has established a team to identify and incubate programs across its entire portfolio that generate significant health impact through highly cost‑effective programming. This 'Maximum Impact Incubator' team has the exciting and challenging aim of evaluating and prioritizing the most cost‑effective and scalable opportunities for new programs, maximizing the benefit of available resources.

In this role, you will engage with CHAI program and country teams, philanthropic partner(s) and senior leadership to source, evaluate, prioritize, recommend, and seek funding for highly cost‑effective health programs. You will work closely with technical and generalist staff on the Incubator team, CHAI program and country teams, and other stakeholders to conduct rigorous analysis of prospective programs. Activities will include organizing a portfolio of program reviews, managing communications across CHAI’s diverse program and country teams, and leading synthesis of Incubator findings for communications with internal stakeholders and external donors.

This role is flexible to be based in a CHAI program country outside the United States, pending Country Leadership approval.

Responsibilities

• Collating data on costs and effects of high‑impact interventions, including through literature reviews, discussions with CHAI program and country teams, and engagement with external experts
• Critically evaluating the strength of the evidence base for interventions, identifying data gaps and uncertainties
• Conducting cost‑effectiveness analysis to compare the impact of interventions per dollar spent and evaluate factors and uncertainties influencing conclusions
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with donors to build consensus on the strategic framework and impact modelling
• Design monitoring & evaluation systems to demonstrate the impact of the program and address uncertainties identified in the cost‑effectiveness analysis
• Synthesizing outputs both internally and externally through high‑quality presentations, reports, and publications

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of business experience in the private sector or NGO sector in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented work environment (e.g., strategy consulting, investment banking, pharmaceuticals)
• Experience in conducting rigorous research with the ability to present and communicate findings to a variety of audiences
• Experience in conducting a costing analysis and/or modelling the impact of programs
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• English language fluency, both written and verbal
