Job summary

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Ford, GM and FCA ordering, release and global capacity systems; WERS knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs purchasing and production scheduling coordination with outside vendors.
  • Leads customer service in production planning and order fulfillment.
  • Supervises inventory control and data accuracy in ERP systems.
  • Coordinates material launches, engineering changes and part builds.
  • Maintains inventory within defined min/max levels.
  • Represents manufacturing in planning and management meetings.
  • Oversees shipping, receiving and customer service as needed.
  • Ensures accurate production forecast to minimize obsolescence.
  • Conducts quarterly and annual physical inventories.

Job Title: Manager, Materials

Reports To: General Manager

Summary: This position is responsible for the direct management of the plant materials team in the required purchasing, shipping, production planning and customer service activities. It includes maintaining an uninterrupted supply of raw materials and purchased components, ensuring levelized production, and delivering customer products according to guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Leads purchasing team to plan and coordinate production scheduling with outside vendors such as painters, molders, decorators, etc.
  • Leads customer service team in production planning and customer order fulfillment activities.
  • Supervises and coordinates inventory control and order entry functions to assure accurate data.
  • Responsible for detecting, communicating and coordinating all new model launch, engineering change and part build out activities.
  • Maintains inventory levels within minimum and maximum levels specified.
  • Recommends modifications based on planned and projected schedules.
  • Participates in management meetings to assist in planning and make recommendations on matters involving manufacturing operations.
  • Participates in and implements general administrative and technical programs involving communications and staffing.
  • Supports corporate materials manager as needed and participates in corporate materials initiatives.
  • Responsible for ensuring transmission of accurate forecast to support production plan and reduce/eliminate obsolescence exposure.
  • Responsible for quarterly and annual physical inventories.
  • Manages and directs shipping, receiving, customer service as needed.
  • Maintains and directs all pricing activity in coordination with plant staff accountants.
  • Responsible for all traffic and transportation issues which are the Summit plant’s cost.
  • Special projects and assignments as directed.
Education and Experience

Minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing, including material control, warehousing, and supervision, preferably within the automotive supply industry, or two years college education. Demonstrated knowledge of Ford, GM and FCA ordering, release and global capacity systems; WERS system knowledge preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Possesses the ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices.

  • A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (Traditional Score of 26 on the cognitive portion).
Travel Requirements

This position typically does require less than 5% travel.
