Job summary

gategroup is seeking a Materials Manager to join our flight kitchen operations at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. You will oversee production standards, scheduling, labor controls and efficiency, ensuring quality and customer service excellence daily.

The role reports to the Operations Manager and requires leadership of a team, strong communication, and a track record in high-volume food service. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory/management experience with scheduling and financial acumen.
  • In-flight catering or high-volume food service experience highly desired; labor relations experience a plus.
  • Experience with menu design a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures unit maintains production standards.
  • Ensures labor controls are in place and effective.
  • Ensures interdepartmental communication occurs regularly.
  • Assist in the development and training of subordinates.
  • Work with management staff to improve performance of the unit.
  • Prepares administrative reports as required.
  • Responsible for safety, quality and compliance to customer specifications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job description

We’re looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone’s journeys better. We are currently looking for a Materials Manager to join our flight kitchen operations team located at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in Dallas, Texas. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the position is responsible for maintaining production standards to meet customers’ requirements, which includes: scheduling, communication, productivity, labor controls and efficiency standards. Must ensure quality and customer service is maintained at the highest level on a daily basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures unit maintains production standards.
  • Ensures Labor Controls are in place and are effective.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent/GED. Some college preferred.
  • Work Experience: Must have three years of supervisory/management experience, scheduling and financial acumen. In-flight catering experience is highly desired or experience in a high-volume, food service industry. Current or previous labor relations experience, a plus. Experience with menu design, a plus.
Job Skills:

Candidate should be comfortable with all levels of employees and have the ability to drive positive program change. Must have strong and effective leadership skills, and successfully manage staff assigned to liquor and equipment. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Must have the ability to train others. Must have the ability to give negative and positive feedback to employees on a daily basis. Must have excellent time management skills. Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks without losing focus on priorities. Must have strong organizational and analytical skills. Must be innovative and have the ability to make changes to the operation as needed to further improve the work environment and unit performance. Must have basic computer skills includes working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Communication Skills:

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual in Spanish, a plus.

Travel:

This position has travel of up to 10% of the time.

Environmental Requirements:

Regularly stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts of 10+ hours. In a normal production kitchen facility, there may be physical discomfort due to temperature and noise. Must be able to lift, push, pull and move products and equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. A rotating schedule of over 55 hours per week is typical.
