Job description

Now Brewing: manager, marketing operations, Owned Channels! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

As a manager, marketing operations, Owned Channels, you will lead the end-to-end coordination and operational management of customer communications across Starbucks owned digital channels, including email, the Starbucks app, Starbucks.com, Wi-Fi and other digital properties.

You will be responsible for establishing the structure, visibility, and operational rigor required to deliver thousands of creative assets annually. Working closely with Owned Channel marketers, Creative Studio project managers and cross-functional stakeholders, you will manage integrated workback schedules, deliverable grids, briefings, executive reviews, approvals and critical handoffs from initial planning through final delivery.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the details while maintaining a clear view of the larger program. You will anticipate risks, create clarity across complex workflows and ensure decisions, feedback, dependencies and next steps are documented and communicated early and often. You will work autonomously, identify what is needed to keep work moving and bring forward solutions before issues affect delivery.

As a manager, marketing operations, you will:

  • Own the operational framework for Owned Channel campaigns and programs, connecting strategy, briefing, creative development, reviews, approvals, final delivery and deployment readiness.
  • Develop and maintain integrated workback schedules, deliverable grids, milestone plans and approval pathways across email, app, web, Wi-Fi and other owned digital placements.
  • Serve as the team’s Workfront subject-matter expert, ensuring projects, briefs, timelines, assignments, reviews, approvals, status updates and final assets are accurate and consistently maintained.
  • Partner closely with Creative Studio project managers to align marketing and creative workflows, clarify ownership, manage dependencies and ensure seamless handoffs without duplicating responsibilities.
  • Coordinate seasonal and campaign briefings, working sessions, creative reviews and executive reviews, ensuring stakeholders understand the objective, required decisions and expectations for each milestone.
  • Capture clear, actionable meeting notes, decisions and feedback, then translate them into documented updates, owners and next steps across Workfront and supporting project materials.
  • Consolidate input from cross-functional stakeholders into clear and actionable direction, identifying conflicting feedback, unresolved decisions and downstream implications before work progresses.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and high volumes of deliverables with precision, ensuring every asset, market, version, review, approval and handoff is accounted for.
  • Proactively identify timeline risks, missing inputs, scope changes, capacity constraints and process gaps, escalating early and recommending solutions or tradeoffs.
  • Establish clear communication rhythms and provide concise, accurate status updates to marketers, creative partners, cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
  • Drive accountability across project teams by confirming owners, deadlines and dependencies, following through on open items and ensuring commitments are completed.
  • Adapt plans quickly as business priorities, product information, creative direction and channel needs evolve while maintaining visibility into the impact of changes.
  • Maintain organized and accessible project documentation, creating a reliable source of truth for schedules, briefs, decisions, approvals and deliverables.
  • Identify recurring workflow challenges and recommend improvements that simplify processes, strengthen Workfront adoption and increase the team’s speed and effectiveness.
  • Build trusted relationships across Marketing, Creative Studio, Marketing Operations, Technology, Product and other partner teams, representing Owned Channels with clarity, partnership and professionalism.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and productive team environment by communicating transparently, approaching challenges with curiosity and treating partners with respect and empathy.
We’d love to hear from people with:
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing complex, cross-functional marketing, digital or creative projects from briefing through final delivery.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Workfront, including project setup, timelines, task management, reviews, approvals, reporting and asset organization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage large volumes of assets, milestones, versions and dependencies without losing sight of broader objectives.
  • Strong project management discipline, including experience managing scope, schedules, risks, dependencies, resources, communications and quality.
  • Ability to create order and clarity within highly complex, ambiguous or rapidly changing environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to capture discussions accurately and translate them into concise decisions, actions and direction.
  • Strong meeting facilitation and documentation skills, including the ability to distinguish feedback, decisions, open questions and action items.
  • Ability to identify risks and gaps early, communicate them constructively and recommend practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive accountability across teams without relying on direct authority.
  • Strong judgment and confidence navigating competing priorities, compressed timelines and changing business needs.
  • Experience partnering with creative teams or agencies and an understanding of creative development, review, approval and production workflows.
  • Ability to work autonomously, determine the appropriate path forward and keep stakeholders informed without requiring continuous direction.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to build trust with partners at multiple levels of an organization.
  • Comfort operating in a large, matrixed organization with multiple teams, decision-makers and approval points.
Basic qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in project management, marketing operations, creative operations, integrated production or a related field.
  • Three or more years managing complex, cross-functional marketing or creative projects.
  • Three or more years managing multiple large-scale or concurrent mid-sized programs with overlapping deliverables and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience working with project management and workflow platforms, with advanced Adobe Workfront experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing digital marketing or content production across channels such as email, mobile apps, websites or related digital experiences.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience supporting a high-volume owned channel, CRM, digital marketing or content production organization.
  • Experience coordinating executive-level creative reviews and complex approval processes.
  • Experience managing seasonal campaigns, product launches or enterprise marketing programs.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports or other tools that improve project visibility and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of digital asset management, localization, accessibility, quality assurance or deployment workflows.
  • Experience improving operational processes and increasing adoption of project management tools.
