Manager of Manufacturing Quality Engineering

We are looking for a Manager of Manufacturing Quality Engineering with 7+ years of experience to build and lead the quality engineering function for a rapidly scaling EV manufacturer. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for establishing end‑to‑end quality systems across assembly and production, managing a small team, and owning supplier quality relationships across global manufacturing partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and implement quality management systems and inspection frameworks from the ground up, including IQC, IPQC, and end‑of‑line (EOL) processes
• Lead root cause investigations, MRB reviews, CAPAs, and SCARs to drive continuous production improvement
• Manage and mentor a team of quality engineers and inspectors, setting standards and driving execution
• Own supplier quality relationships with global manufacturing partners, including regular coordination with China‑based suppliers outside standard working hours
• Partner closely with Design, Manufacturing, and Production teams to embed quality into every stage of product development and production
• Develop and maintain quality control plans, inspection standards, and continuous improvement processes across production lines

Key Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing quality engineering within automotive or hardware industries
• 2+ years of experience managing or leading a quality engineering team
• Proven experience building quality systems and processes in a startup or early‑stage manufacturing environment
• Strong expertise in IQC, IPQC, and EOL inspection frameworks and quality control planning
• Hands‑on experience with FMEA, SPC, GD&T, MRB, CAPA, and SCAR processes
• Experience managing global supplier quality relationships, including China‑based manufacturing partners
• BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
• Based in the Bay Area and willing to work on‑site 5 days per week in Fremont
• Comfortable working across time zones, including evening calls with suppliers in Asia
