To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. The focus of this Manufacturing Engineering manager role is to lead and support the talented team of Manufacturing Engineers in the manufacturing execution of all human capable Lunar vehicles. This role includes overseeing the support of build execution, the translation of engineering definition into manufacturing work instructions, and the processing build non-conformances.

Position Specific Details
  • Shift: 1st | Mon–Fri (8:00 AM–5:00 PM)
  • Location: Rocket Park, FL
  • Relocation: Available
  • Travel: Potential travel up to 10% of the time for training and other support activities
Responsibilities
  • Enable the success of a team comprised of high-impact Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and support to help engineers develop goals, career paths, and ensure professional development.
  • Establish roles, responsibilities, and accountability for all team members.
  • Ensure workflow and priorities are balanced across the team to support program milestones.
  • Evaluate staffing requirements and grow the team by recruiting and hiring top-performing manufacturing engineers.
  • Own manufacturing engineering deliverables across the lifecycle, including process creation, acceptance and test plans, tooling and equipment definition and commissioning, and the authoring of work instructions.
  • Support the team in applying robust, consistent, and reliable engineering fundamentals and processes.
  • Engage in Manufacturing Bill of Material (BOM) creation and maintenance and Product Structure definition.
  • Review and understand company-wide processes and command media to ensure proper compliance.
  • Coordinate and work closely with program managers, operations leaders, and Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads to meet design, build, and test objectives.
  • Promote and lead Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA) and Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA) studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and world-class mission assurance in all manufacturing processes, ensuring rigorous adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement using lean principles, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions — collaborating closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and other partner teams to resolve issues, remove roadblocks, and ensure on-time delivery of flight hardware.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering.
  • Demonstrated commitment to world-class mission assurance, quality, and attention to detail, consistently modeling safety, integrity, and ownership.
  • Flexibility to change shifts as needed and to work extended hours when required to support production schedules.
  • Ability to work onsite daily in a fast-paced, hands‑on production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience directly leading engineers and/or technical teams through new product development into a production environment, with demonstrated leadership and relationship-building skills that drive performance and results across cross-functional teams.
  • Proven technical breadth across multiple hardware domains, including system assembly, bonding/adhesive and fastener application, machining and composite fabrication, and integration of electrical and mechanical components, spanning multiple product lifecycle stages.
  • Hands‑on experience in aerospace assembly, integration, and troubleshooting, with a strong foundation in fabrication processes (machining, welding, composites, mechanical/electrical assembly) and demonstrated expertise in designing, building, and commissioning tooling and fixtures for manufacturing, assembly, and test.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing fundamentals, including GD&T, DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturing process development.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality and safety standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.
  • Experience working within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), including supporting requirements generation and establishing/maintaining Interface Control Models (ICMs).
