Job summary

Sotera Health is seeking a Facility Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance across multiple facilities, ensuring adherence to quality and EH&S standards. You will supervise maintenance staff, coordinate with Corporate Engineering, and drive improvements to equipment uptime.

The role requires strong communication, CMMS proficiency, and ability to manage budgets and vendor relationships while maintaining a safe and compliant operation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum five years of maintenance experience with at least two in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general and preventative maintenance across facilities.
  • Ensure PMs are performed and documented per quality system requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and up-to-date in the EAM system.
  • Manage spare parts inventory as defined by engineering.
  • Monitor work orders and file copies with PM reports.
  • Maintain a 24-hour on-call status for troubleshooting.
  • Liaise between Corporate Engineering and General Manager on projects.
  • Provide guidance for performance evaluations of maintenance staff.

Reporting to the General Manager with - dotted line responsibilities to Corporate Engineering, the Facility Maintenance Manager is responsible for all facility maintenance, facility maintenance personnel, maintenance administration and documentation of and for the machinery, equipment and buildings. Ensures all maintenance activities in the assigned facilities are performed in compliance with Sterigenics’ quality system requirements, Sterigenics Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system and in compliance with Sterigenics’ EH&S programs.

Responsibilities
  • General and Preventative Maintenance
  • Ensures that routine preventative maintenance is performed and documented on all system machinery according to the Sterigenics Monthly Preventative Maintenance Reports
  • Ensures that all records pertaining to maintenance are maintained within quality system requirements at all locations and that the EAM system is maintained and up to date at all times.
  • Ensures that preventative maintenance on forklifts and other specialized equipment not detailed in the PM program, is performed.
  • Assures that all equipment is clean without impeding normal operation.
  • Ensures that spare parts as defined by engineering and tool inventory is properly stocked.
  • Monitors the progress of work orders completed by Managers and/or Shift Supervisors and ensures that all copies are filed with the Preventative Maintenance Reports
  • Maintains a 24-hour on-call status to assist with required troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoots issues with plant personnel prior to contacting Corporate Engineering
  • Acts as Liaison between Corporate Engineering and the General Manager on various facility improvement projects.
Safety
  • Ensures that all work completed per standards as detailed in facility work instructions and company EH&S standards.
  • Participates as necessary in facility safety programs to aid the facilities safety compliance.
  • Ensures that contractors performing work in the facilities meet the minimum requirements of Sterigenics’ EH&S program.
General
  • Assists with special projects as directed by the General Manager(s) and Corporate Engineering.
  • Ensures vendor lists are maintained current.
Supervision
  • Directs or leads the activities of the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Technician(s) and/or designated individuals at the facilities to ensure general and preventative maintenance and applicable Corporate Engineering projects are planned and completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Directs or leads the contractors as required by the scope of projects at the home and regional facilities to ensure general and preventative maintenance and applicable Corporate Engineering projects are planned and completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations to the General Manager for the performance evaluations of Maintenance Technicians
  • Completes an annual evaluation of the Maintenance program of facility.
Supervision Given
  • Direct: Maintenance Supervisor (if applicable) at facility.
  • Indirect:Maintenance Technician and/or designated individuals (if applicable) at facility.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum five (5) years maintenance experience with two (2) years in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
  • Solid communications skills – listening, written, verbal, presentation, etc.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Software.
  • Microsoft Office Proficient.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering schematics.

Special Requirements
  • Periodic domestic travel 2-4x per year.
  • Must be medically approved for respirator use (EO)
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to high temperatures and high humidity (120F and 60% RH for 20 minutes) (EO)

Training Required
  • Must complete all required training for a “Maintenance Manager / Supervisor / Technician” as outlined in the training manual.
  • General supervisory training

Benefits and Pay

Pay: $92,000–$149,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and skills.
