HMSHost seeks a Manager of Joint Venture Accounting to oversee financial reporting, distributions, and contract compliance for joint ventures. You will ensure accurate loan tracking, ledger reconciliation, and collaboration with external auditors.

The role requires 3–6 years in accounting, a BA/BS in accounting or finance, and preference for CPA/CMA/MBA and JV experience within hospitality, F&B, or retail sectors. This position is based at the Bethesda, MD location with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Requires 3-6 years of experience in an accounting environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
• Joint Venture accounting experience is a plus.
• Hospitality, F&B and/or Retail experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with JV partners regarding financial terms, reporting, cash distributions, loans and related matters.
• Maintains JV accounting policies, processes, and workflows; improves internal controls.
• Prepares monthly financial statements for all joint ventures; calculates partner distributions and management fees.
• Manages JV receivables and notes; monitors collections and risk.
• Reviews annual JV tax packages and reconciles minority interest payable and loan balances.
• Supports audits with Deloitte and prepares audit schedules.
• Interacts with Legal, Business Development and Operations Management on JV matters.
• Assists onboarding of new JVs and restructuring activities.

Purpose: The purpose of the Manager of Joint Venture (JV) Accounting is to assist all aspects of accounting for joint ventures. The responsibilities include financial reporting, profit sharing and cash distribution calculations, management fees calculations, loan tracking, maintaining compliance with financial terms of JV contracts, assist in audits with external auditors, and reconciling all related general ledger account, as mandated by JV agreements.

Essential Functions:

• Collaborates with JV partners relating to contractual financial terms, which primarily includes financial reporting, cash distributions, loans and other accounting matters


• Maintains JV accounting policies, processes, and workflows; streamlines internal processes to gain efficiencies and maintain sound internal controls

• Prepares monthly financial statements for all joint ventures


• Responsible for calculation of partner distributions and management fees


• Manages JV receivables and notes; monitors collections, and risk assessment


• Reviews annual JV tax packages


• Reconciles minority interest payable, loan balances and other JV balance sheet accounts


• Assists with audits of joint ventures with Deloitte and prepares related audit schedules


• Interact with Legal, Business Development and Operations Management on joint ventures related matters


• Support onboarding of new joint ventures and restructuring activities

Reporting Relationship: This position reports to the Director Joint Venture Accounting

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

  • Requires 3-6 years of experience in an accounting environment:
    
    
    
    • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
