Job summary

U.S. Travel Association is seeking a proactive professional to implement member engagement and outreach for international inbound travel communities, including IPW ecosystems. You will manage host destination accounts and coordinate cross-functional planning to drive IPW success and strengthen global partnerships.

In this hybrid Washington, D.C. role, you will craft communications, analyze trends, and collaborate across events, marketing, sponsorships, and operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5–7 years of experience in community management, account management, event planning or member relations.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with CRM systems and project/event management tools.
  • Moderate travel required, including at least four trips per year.

Job description

Summary:

U.S. Travel’s IPW is the world’s largest inbound travel trade show and U.S. Travel’s flagship event connecting global and national travel buyers, suppliers and media to showcase the best of the United States. Business generated at IPW brings nearly 11 million visitors to America and generates approximately $26.1 billion in spending over the following three years.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement member engagement and outreach strategy for international inbound travel communities, including the International Inbound Travel Network, IPW Advisory Council, IPW Future Host Alliance, IPW Partner Network and IPW Insider Community.
  • Manage a portfolio of high-value host destination accounts to support multiyear planning efforts, strengthen engagement and drive successful outcomes for IPW and U.S. Travel.
  • Create and maintain project timelines to ensure timely development, review and distribution of community materials, including invitations, agendas, pre-reads, presentations, remarks and follow-up communications.
  • Analyze engagement trends and participation data to identify opportunities, strengthen member involvement and enhance the value of the communities.
  • Capture feedback, trends and actionable insights from community and host destination meetings to share with internal leadership and help shape IPW and U.S. Travel’s international inbound strategy. Document key discussion points, decisions and action items and track progress on follow-up deliverables.
  • Compose community communications and targeted outreach to support community management and host city relationships.
  • Partner with host destinations to establish a cadence, coordinate joint monthly or biweekly planning calls, track host city commitments and ensure host teams remain informed and supported.
  • Connect members and internal experts across events, marketing, sponsorship, communications and the international landscape to help partners navigate opportunities and solve challenges.
  • Read industry and business articles to remain current on host destination news and identify touchpoints to deepen member relationships.
  • Accompany leadership to represent U.S. Travel at select industry functions.

  • Ability to manage high-stakes relationships with executive-level destination leads, industry suppliers and internal staff with professionalism, diplomacy and tact.
  • Highly organized with exceptional process management skills and operational precision; able to manage complex timelines, anticipate needs multiple steps ahead, handle shifting priorities and drive accountability to ensure timely execution and follow-through.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, adept at writing polished pre-reads, developing presentation slides and executive briefings and drafting clear, impactful communications and outreach materials.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility, cultivate strong partnerships and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly communicative and responsive; must possess a positive and proactive attitude and the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
  • Proven track record of helping launch new initiatives from scratch, navigating uncertainty and driving outcomes without established playbooks.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and adjust quickly to changes in priorities.
  • Ability to deliver what is promised with accuracy, efficiency and timeliness in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills, working seamlessly across internal departments and with external colleagues to achieve shared objectives.
Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Five to seven years of experience in community management, account management, event planning or member relations. Experience in hospitality, travel or trade associations is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint, and familiarity with CRM systems and project and event management tools.
  • Moderate travel required, including at least four trips per year for meetings, host city visits and annual IPW execution.

  • Position based in Washington, D.C. U.S. Travel staff work in the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
