Job description

The Manager of Investor Compliance & Conveyance leads the specialized teams responsible for protecting Safeguard Properties from financial risk during the post-sale property preservation life cycle. When clients prepare to convey properties to investors like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or the FHA, the assets must strictly meet investor-specific, well-maintained standards.

In this role, you will oversee the team that investigates investor complaints and post-conveyance surcharges. You will direct loan and property history audits, determine liability for missed or non-compliant work, and mitigate company financial exposure. Additionally, you will directly manage the Conveyance Team to ensure proactive compliance, operational efficiency, and seamless property handovers that protect Safeguard’s bottom line.

Team Leadership & Conveyance Management
  • Direct Team Supervision: Lead, mentor, and develop the Conveyance and Compliance staff to ensure high engagement and operational excellence.
  • Workflow & Deadline Oversight: Monitor daily pipelines and inventory to ensure the team consistently meets rigid client deadlines, SLAs, and quality standards.
  • Performance Management: Establish clear operational metrics, conduct regular performance reviews, and identify targeted training opportunities to improve team accuracy.
Compliance, Claim Investigation & Liability Mitigation
  • Audit & Reconveyance Review: Oversee comprehensive audits of contested loans and property histories to verify adherence to client, government, and investor guidelines.
  • Surcharge & Penalty Analysis: Evaluate complex financial disputes—including investor demands, forced repurchases, and post-conveyance updates—and provide final liability recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Vendor Chargebacks: Determine internal vs. external error and manage the vendor dispute process, including issuing bill-backs to independent contractors when work fails to meet standards.
  • Cost Controls: Track and minimize unexpected property holding costs, missing photo documentation, and client escalations to reduce company financial losses.
  • System Integrity: Ensure the team maintains meticulous, real-time file updates and logs comprehensive supporting evidence within Safeguard’s internal tracking platform (Archer).
Department Operations
  • Communication SLAs: Guarantee that the team maintains professional communication standards, responding to all internal and external inquiries within a 24-to-48-hour window.
  • Regulatory Mastery: Stay strictly up-to-date on shifting HUD/FHA, VA, and GSE (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac) property preservation regulations to ensure continuous team compliance.
Core Managerial Competencies
  • Conflict Resolution: Ability to navigate complex, high-stakes financial disputes with vendors or clients and negotiate objective, data-backed solutions.
  • Integrity & Financial Stewardship: Takes complete ownership of team outcomes and actively safeguards the company's financial interests.
  • Agility: Comfortable managing shifting priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced corporate environment with evolving investor regulations.
  • Results-Oriented Customer Service: Driven to resolve complex client complaints thoroughly, reinforcing Safeguard's reputation for quality.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Leadership: Prior experience supervising staff, managing operational workflows, or leading cross-functional projects is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and Word) and comfort navigating multiple proprietary software platforms simultaneously.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex compliance data and financial penalties clearly for executive leadership.
