Job summary

The Pennant Group, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Interoperability Architecture to define, build, and operate a scalable interoperability platform across clinical, financial, and operational systems.

This role combines hands-on solution delivery with strategic leadership to enable secure data exchange across partners. You will lead a small team, set architectural standards, and partner with Data Warehousing, Clinical Applications, Security, and Infrastructure to advance enterprise data exchange

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/Engineering/Healthcare Informatics or related field.
  • 7+ years of healthcare information technology experience.
  • 5+ years designing and implementing integration or interoperability solutions.
  • Experience leading technical teams and delivering complex initiatives.
  • Experience with HL7 v2.x, FHIR, REST APIs and SOAP.
  • Experience with integration engines and middleware platforms.
  • Experience with Epic, HCHB or similar healthcare platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead interoperability engineering and product ownership teams.
  • Define enterprise interoperability architecture strategy and roadmap.
  • Design APIs, interfaces, and data exchange patterns.
  • Build and deliver integrations between EHRs, clinical and operational systems.
  • Partner with stakeholders and vendors to prioritize opportunities.

Reporting to the Director of Data, this role combines technical leadership, people leadership, and strategic planning to create scalable, secure, and reliable data exchange capabilities across clinical, financial, operational, and enterprise systems.This leader serves as both architect and builder, working hands-on to design and develop APIs, interfaces, integration patterns, and interoperability services while leading a small, high-performing team. The role will establish the architectural foundation for Pennant's interoperability ecosystem and drive the organization's ability to exchange, govern, and leverage data effectively across internal and external partners.The Manager, Interoperability Architecture will partner closely with Data Warehousing, Clinical Applications, Enterprise Applications, Security, Infrastructure, and business leaders to deliver solutions that enable life-changing service through connected healthcare technology.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESLeadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor, and develop a team consisting of interoperability engineering and product ownership resources.Conduct hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development activities.Establish team priorities, workload planning, and capacity management.Foster a CAPLICO-driven culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.Build a high-trust environment that empowers team members to take initiative and solve complexproblems.Architecture & Platform OwnershipDefine and maintain the enterprise interoperability architecture strategy and roadmap.Establish standards, patterns, and best practices for APIs, interfaces, event-driven integrations, and dataexchange.Design scalable integration architectures supporting growth, acquisitions, and evolving healthcarebusiness needs.Evaluate and recommend technologies, platforms, and architectural approaches.Ensure interoperability solutions align with security, governance, compliance, and operationalrequirements.Maintain architectural documentation, standards, and reference designs.Engineering & DeliveryDesign, develop, test, and support APIs, interfaces, and middleware solutions.Build integrations between EHRs, operational systems, cloud platforms, vendor applications, and data platforms.Configure and optimize integration engines and middleware technologies.Participate in hands-on coding and solution delivery activities.Troubleshoot and resolve complex interoperability, integration, and data exchange issues.Implement monitoring, alerting, and operational support practices for critical integrations.Strategy & Stakeholder PartnershipPartner with business and technology leaders to identify interoperability opportunities and priorities.Translate organizational goals into platform capabilities and technical roadmaps.Collaborate with vendors, implementation partners, and healthcare technology providers.Support due diligence and integration planning for acquisitions and new business initiatives.Drive long-term interoperability maturity and healthcare data exchange capabilities.The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
