Job description

At MFS, you will find a culture that supports you in doing what you do best. Our employees work together to reach better outcomes, favoring the strongest idea over the strongest individual. We put people first and demonstrate care and compassion for our community and each other. Because what we do matters – to us as valued professionals and to the millions of people and institutions who rely on us to help them build more secure and prosperous futures.

THE ROLE

The Intelligent Automation Manager is responsible for leading a team responsible for the support, enhancement, and evolution of the firm’s business automation capabilities. This role oversees solutions built on platforms such as Power Automate, Automation Anywhere and Xceptor, while also driving the modernization of the automation estate toward future-state platforms and capabilities. This leader will partner closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and delivery partners to identify, simplify, standardize, and redesign business processes using workflow automation, intelligent automation, AI, and orchestration technologies. As part of ongoing platform modernization, this role will help lead the migration of legacy automation solutions to Microsoft Power Platform and other appropriate modern automation architectures and evaluate opportunities to incorporate emerging capabilities such as agentic AI and Copilot Studio where they can improve business value, scalability, resiliency, or user experience. The ideal candidate combines strong business relationship skills with technical depth in enterprise automation platforms and may contribute directly in hands‑on capacities such as solution design, technical review, platform configuration, proof of concept work, or selective development support, as needed. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and guide the evolution of enterprise automation capabilities based on business needs and architectural fit.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Lead, coach, and develop a team responsible for the delivery, support, enhancement, and continuous improvement of a large portfolio of production automations and digital solutions across business functions.

Provide technical guidance and oversight to the team across automation architecture, solution design, development practices, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support.

Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders and serve as a trusted point of contact for automation opportunities, priorities, and outcomes.

Lead automation modernization initiatives by evaluating and implementing emerging technologies—including workflow automation, AI, agentic AI, machine learning, orchestration platforms, Microsoft Power Platform, and Copilot Studio—to redesign workflows, migrate legacy RPA solutions, and support future‑state business capabilities, with an emphasis on selecting the most appropriate technologies based on business value, scalability, and user experience.

Help develop and execute an automation modernization roadmap, assessing the existing portfolio to identify opportunities for platform consolidation, process redesign, migration, architectural improvements, and retirement of obsolete or inefficient solutions.

Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, modernize, and automate processes through intelligent automation and digital process orchestration solutions, including evaluating existing processes where appropriate to ensure automation delivers measurable business value.

Oversee existing automation solutions on platforms such as Automation Anywhere and Xceptor, ensuring reliability, governance, operational effectiveness, and appropriate production support.

Partner with technology teams to ensure automation solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with enterprise architecture, SDLC/ADLC practices, and support models.

Contribute directly in activities such as solution design, prototyping, platform configuration, troubleshooting, and selective development or implementation support, as needed.

Track, communicate, and report on delivery progress, operational health, risks, and business value realization to leadership and stakeholders.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

8+ years of relevant experience in enterprise technology, workflow automation, intelligent automation, software engineering, or related disciplines, including experience leading and developing technical teams with responsibility for solution delivery, technical oversight, and operational outcomes.

Experience leading teams responsible for workflow automation, RPA, intelligent automation, or related enterprise technology solutions.

Strong ability to partner with business stakeholders, understand operational challenges, and translate business needs into practical technology solutions.

Strong communication, leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Ability to think strategically about the evolution of enterprise automation capabilities while balancing modernization objectives with the operational needs of an established production portfolio.

Experience leading automation modernization efforts, including platform migrations, process redesign, digital transformation, and adoption of emerging AI‑enabled capabilities, with the ability to assess opportunities to refactor, replatform, redesign, or retire existing solutions.

Strong understanding of enterprise automation architecture, including workflow orchestration, RPA, API‑based integrations, platform governance, and operational support considerations, as well as modern integration and automation approaches.

Ability to provide credible technical leadership in solution design, development practices, and engineering tradeoff discussions, including evaluation of emerging technologies and selection of appropriate architectural approaches.

Experience with automation platforms such as Automation Anywhere, Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Xceptor, or similar workflow and intelligent automation technologies.

Experience working in a mature SDLC environment, including solution delivery, testing, release management, production support, and ongoing maintenance for enterprise automation and digital solutions.

Hands‑on technical capability with automation platforms, with the ability to contribute directly when needed in design, configuration, prototyping, troubleshooting, or development‑related activities.

Familiarity with AI, agentic AI, machine learning, and related intelligent automation use cases in an enterprise setting, including practical considerations for governance, security, human oversight, and operational risk.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline preferred.
