Job summary

SHRM in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Manager, Instructional Design to lead the design and development of SHRM’s learning products and experiences, advancing SHRM’s mission to improve workplaces.

You will guide complex learning initiatives, coach a design team, partner with SMEs and cross-functional stakeholders, and leverage AI tools to boost productivity in a hybrid work environment. This is a strategic, hands-on role shaping SHRM’s learning portfolio.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HR and instructional design principles.
• Seven or more years of progressive instructional design or learning and development experience.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Systems Design, Learning & Development, Education, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to influence and collaborate with SMEs, leaders, and cross-functional partners.
• Ability to translate business priorities into learning solutions.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to streamline workflows.
• Instructional design or learning technology certification preferred.
• Physical requirements: prolonged sitting and computer work.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and ensure accessibility and quality on complex learning initiatives.
• Oversee the analysis, design, development, and audits of SHRM learning products.
• Partner cross-functionally to identify learning needs and translate requirements into effective solutions.
• Use learner feedback and performance data to assess and improve learning solutions.
• Lead and develop a team of instructional design professionals.
• Develop and oversee external partners to expand delivery capacity.
