Job Description

This position is for a full-time Therapy Manager for the Brain Injury and Stroke Units.

Inpatient acute rehab setting experience preferred.

Responsible for the general direction, coordination, and financial management of all therapies for a specific patient care unit/area. The Therapy Manager is the primary clinical resource for therapists within the same discipline/cluster and works in conjunction with the Nurse Manager to ensure the integration of all therapies and related services into the unit's patient care delivery system.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technological Transformation: Uses change management skills to align new technologies with the organization's culture and needs of key stakeholders. Considers work structure, job design, educational needs, and other resources during integration. Utilizes technology to achieve organizational performance.
  2. Diversity: Promotes an environment of respect and inclusion, minimizes intergroup conflict, and applies cultural competence principles.
  3. Critical Thinking Skills: Demonstrates ability to solve problems and make decisions employing inquiry, reasoning, and a results-oriented approach. Assesses relevant information, raises insightful questions, and designs fair, ethical actions.
  4. Staffing and Resource Management: Designs safe labor allocations, evaluates skill mix, and monitors staff competency and performance.
  5. Departmental Processes: Develops processes to ensure adequate inventory, communicates with Materials Management, and maintains accurate data entry and charge capture.
  6. Leadership and Operations: Acts as a leader, role model, and operational manager, integrating service processes to improve patient outcomes and customer satisfaction. Develops departmental procedures, monitors compliance, and handles clinical issues.
  7. Customer Service: Models and enforces excellent customer service behaviors, ensuring appropriate care and confidentiality, and effective communication.
  8. Teamwork and Collaboration: Cultivates a collaborative environment, sets clear expectations, and manages interpersonal relationships effectively.
  9. Leadership & Management: Provides clear direction, influences staff, and guides priority setting and time management.
  10. Communication and Relationship Management: Ensures transparent communication, develops trust, and manages conflicts diplomatically.
  11. ITG and Technology Integration: Incorporates information technology to improve efficiency and recommends new technologies.
  12. Talent Management: Handles recruitment, retention, performance feedback, and staff development.
  13. Professional and Community Outreach: Represents UMROI in professional organizations and community groups.
  14. Employee Relations and Accountability: Promotes a respectful work environment, fosters trust, and encourages personal accountability.
  15. Compliance and Safety: Ensures adherence to standards (TJC, CARF, OSHA) and maintains safety protocols.
  16. Budget Management: Develops and monitors departmental budget, implements cost-saving strategies, and ensures financial stewardship.
  17. Professional Development: Collaborates on staff growth plans, attends conferences, and supports research participation.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current certification/licensure as an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Recreational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Current CPR certification for healthcare providers.
  • Baccalaureate degree in relevant field; master's preferred.
  • 3-5 years of professional/supervisory clinical experience.
