This role offers an opportunity for an experienced infection prevention professional to provide clinical leadership across two hospital campuses in Fort Lauderdale and Coral Springs. The Manager will lead infection surveillance, prevention, regulatory readiness, education, and quality improvement activities while partnering closely with nursing, medical staff, quality, employee health, pharmacy, and operational leaders. Reporting to the Director of Infection Prevention, this position serves as the local infection prevention leader for assigned facilities and plays an important role in maintaining safe, evidence-based practices across a complex healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead infection prevention and control activities across assigned hospital campuses, including surveillance, reporting, outbreak identification, and risk mitigation.
- Supervise department staff, including hiring, orientation, training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with NHSN, CDC, OSHA, CMS, AHCA, and other applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Monitor infection prevention trends and communicate risks, findings, and recommendations to hospital leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- Facilitate Infection Prevention and Control Committee activities, including meetings, minutes, reports, and statistical presentations.
- Support regulatory surveys, audits, corrective actions, and accreditation readiness.
- Develop, review, and update infection prevention policies and procedures in collaboration with system leadership.
- Lead or facilitate infection prevention quality improvement initiatives, establish goals, track outcomes, and communicate project status.
- Partner with Employee Health regarding communicable disease exposure, blood and body fluid incidents, and employee infection risks.
- Participate in Environment of Care activities, construction and renovation planning, and Infection Control Risk Assessments.
- Develop and support targeted infection prevention education using evidence-based practices and appropriate learning strategies.
- Collaborate with Infectious Disease providers and Pharmacy on infection prevention practices and antibiotic review activities.
- Participate in committees, physician department meetings, special projects, and other organizational initiatives as needed.
- Provide consultation on urgent infection prevention matters, including occasional after-hours or weekend responsibilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, or another health-related field required.
- Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) required and maintained in good standing.
- 3–5 years of hospital-based infection prevention and control experience.
- 3–5 years of experience supporting regulatory compliance and accreditation readiness.
- Florida RN or multistate Enhanced Nursing Licensure Compact (eNLC) license preferred.
- Master's degree in Epidemiology, Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Nursing, Public Health, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of NHSN, OSHA, CMS, AHCA, NFPA, DNV, ISO 9001, and other relevant regulatory standards.
- Strong understanding of microbiology, epidemiology, infection surveillance, data analysis, and clinical quality improvement.
- Experience with group quality improvement initiatives and clinical process improvement.
- APIC or SHEA membership and active participation preferred.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical and epidemiological data and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Effective communication, presentation, facilitation, and report-writing skills.
