About the role

We seek an experienced Engineering Manager II to lead our web development team. You will oversee the development of Samsara’s web experience, partner with Product and Design teams, and develop scalable technical strategies for our rapid growth. This role offers the chance to work in an entrepreneurial environment supporting a high-scale platform.

This is a remote position for candidates in the US, excluding the San Francisco Bay Area, NYC, and Washington D.C. regions. Relocation assistance is not provided.

In this role, you will

• Develop and execute engineering strategies to improve products and exceed customer expectations.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse team across multiple locations.
• Collaborate with Product, UX/UI, and AI teams to develop features and optimize user experience.
• Architect scalable, maintainable solutions using modern web technologies.
• Ensure features meet standards of reliability, performance, and security with automated testing and monitoring.
• Manage the development lifecycle with Agile practices for timely delivery.
• Introduce new technologies, tools, and processes to enhance team capabilities.

Minimum requirements

• 8+ years in software engineering, with 4+ years leading engineering teams.
• 5+ years developing software in production environments.
• Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
• Customer-focused mindset and strong product sense.
• Deep problem-solving skills in challenging technical environments.
• Experience with testing, monitoring, and SLAs for large-scale web services.
• Passion for improving team processes and working with self-directed teams.

Ideal candidates also have

• Leadership skills in building and scaling diverse teams and delivering large-scale web applications.
• Technical mastery in languages like Go, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C/C++.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

The annual base salary range is $150,237.50—$227,250 USD, depending on location, experience, and skills.
