Job summary

Triumph Group in Forest, Ohio is seeking a Manager I, Operations to lead site manufacturing operations and drive performance across welding and machining lines. You will partner with the site leadership to meet schedule, cost and quality goals while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in manufacturing, with strong lean and union experience.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years manufacturing experience
  • Experience leading an operation with welding and machining lines
  • Experience leading production operations in a low volume/high mix environment

Manager I, Operations

Triumph Integrated Systems - Electronics and Controls, located in Forest, Ohio, is a leading independent aerospace supplier of mission critical thermal and fluid management products for commercial and military platforms.The company provides solutions utilized on aircraft, engine, advance weapons pods, cruise missiles, avionics & electronic systems.

Responsibilities
  • As a member of the site leadership team, share responsibility for the leadership of the business to achieve all financial and non-financial goals. Champion and demonstrate the principles, vision and values of the Triumph Group.
  • Lead the execution of customer contracts through hands‑on leadership and directing all aspects of production operations and facilities. Achieve or exceed program objectives for schedule, cost and quality.
  • Build and implement compelling goals and aggressive schedules for improvement, rallying the organization behind a clear mission and actionable plans driven down to every level of the organization.
  • Establish KPIs and operations metrics and report on progress, achievements and associated business results. Develop cadence and rigor for reporting progress to various levels of the organization or customer, including executive team, management updates, union and hourly workforce. Develop a culture in which every employee can quickly assess whether we are winning or losing.
  • Recognize the interrelationships of all components of the organization and effectively work within the structure.
  • Participate in union meetings, grievances, arbitrations and contract negotiations as required.
Responsibilities (Cont.)
  • Act as a change agent to drive the integration of a lean culture and the deployment of the Triumph Operating System (TOS) in which every employee contributes to how workflows through the business with maximum efficiency.
  • Proactively recognize and solve challenges affecting current and future ability to achieve production objectives.
  • Allocate resources and assess policies for operating departments. Direct the evaluation, justification and recommendation of the purchase of capital equipment. Participate in the acquisition and set-up of new equipment, processes and facilities.
  • Develop operations budgets for the business plan and analyze monthly financial statements to attain production and shipping goals. Guide, direct and approve budgeting activities and prepare monthly Operations reports.
  • Attract, retain and develop top talent to the operation, creating a high-performance oriented team. Increase engagement and enable the full potential of employees through consistent mentoring, empowerment and accountable leadership. Ensure succession planning for self and direct reports.
  • Build cooperative relationships across a broad range of key constituencies and functions to influence strategies and best-in‑class manufacturing techniques to drive operational competitive advantage with respect to quality, customer service, process efficiency and cost.
  • Work with counterparts in Program Management to ensure clear and consistent communication with customers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree (BA) in Business Administration, Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
  • Five (5) years experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Experience leading an operation with significant welding and machining lines is highly preferred.
  • Experience leading production operations in a low volume/high mix environment is ideal.
  • Proven success in leading and cultivating highly engaged, empowered and accountable teams, of at least 50+ employees, through positive and proactive leadership is required.
  • Prior experience leading or supporting cultural transformation in a unionized environment is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and implementing lean/continuous improvement strategies and additional best-in‑class manufacturing techniques to drive competitive advantage in quality, cost and schedule is required.
  • Experience communicating consistently and effectively with customers directly or as part of a team is highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and organizational skills are required.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project and various analysis tools is required.
