Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for a Maintenance Manager I to join our CMS team with primary oversight of manufacturing maintenance activities. As a Maintenance Manager I, you will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance performance at the Aiken, SC site with a focus on:

  • Lead, manage, and supervise the workforce crafts, vendors, and contractors on multiple shifts responsible for maintaining and repairing site infrastructure and equipment.
  • Maintain positive and productive working relationships with Operations Leadership and the workforce. Support site customers by working in a safe, customer‑centric manner.
  • Attract, retain and develop talent and execute a cohesive strategy to create an inclusive culture and build an engaged workforce. Ensure necessary training and qualifications for maintenance personnel.
  • Use industry benchmarks and metrics/KPI’s that define best‑in‑class performance.
  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset to maintenance. Excel at technical and non‑technical problem solving, root cause and corrective action implementation, and lead a team of managers and supervisors through complex problem solving.
  • Establish Preventive Maintenance scope and frequency. Review existing plans for accuracy and best practice. Prioritize maintenance to reduce downtime through effective planning and scheduling. Identify PdM applications and develop implementation plans.
  • Set priorities, perform forecasting, and allocate resources to complete all repairs and projects related to corrective maintenance, while minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Use lean thinking/manufacturing fundamentals and TPM principles to organize workflow, streamline internal processes, and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Utilize Oracle eAM CMMS to schedule, track, and report on equipment and infrastructure maintenance, service request/work orders and trouble calls; ensure all maintenance team employees are following established practices.
  • Manage facility equipment and tooling spare parts inventories to ensure operational readiness.
  • Lead site Business Continuity Program (BCM) and serve as Incident Commander for Facilities Events.
  • Be highly self‑motivated and on call for emergencies.
  • Think strategically to plan effective changes in the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
  • 15 years in a similar managerial role or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent leadership and communication (written and oral) skills.
  • Good computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Business Management, Building Construction Management).
  • Experience with reliability‑centered maintenance planning and predictive maintenance.
  • Experience with development and execution of budgets.
  • Experience with metalworking equipment including machining centers, waterjets, lasers, blast booths, paint booths, and cranes.
  • Experience in cost‑reduction planning and execution.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing planning schedules and staffing.
  • Experience in construction, operations, test and commissioning; preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Intimate knowledge of utility market landscape, dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
Pay Information

Full‑Time Salary Range: $107,952 – $183,518.

Salary is determined by business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
